Inside this big old blue house in the medical center area of Nashville is a funky assortment of dining rooms, each a different color and theme, with exotic art, prints, furniture and other amusing objects. Epi-curious folks of all ages and types have been seeking out Mambu for its creative cargo culture menu. Addictive gyoza shrimp dumplings and fresh vegetable spring rolls are delicious starters, as are the lamb-stuffed phyllo rolls. Standout entrees include the tasty Vietnamese caramelized shrimp bowl and the succulent roasted lamb with sauteed greens and Gorgonzola ravioli. The lunchtime crowd gets its fix with fish and chips -- or fish and hot shoestring fries. Desserts change regularly but usually include fruit sorbets topped off with a house-made ginger fortune cookie (complete with literary fortune) or other specialties like the tart lemon cheesecake. I have eaten at Mambu a number of times as well as at Sasso's which the two Mambu chefs used to run and I have always been very pleased with the consistently high quality of the meals I've had. Very creative dishes and the best fish/shellfish I've had in town. It's the first place I think of for out-of-town guests.

rolifl - 07/02/2002Great atmosphere, Big plus to serve Fiji Water (my favorite) - food was excellent the first time. The last two times I was not happy about my food, too much garlic and too little taste to the dish in itself - the pad thai was very disappointing. Don't sit outside - the mosquitos will eat you alive !
