A barbecue dive that's as unpretentious as it gets, Hog Heaven is located in a small shack that faces Nashville's main expanse of urban greenery: Centennial Park. But for the locals, college students, business people and other barbecue lovers that flock to Hog Heaven like pigs to a sty, ambiance is secondary. In addition to the pulled pork, chicken and turkey sandwiches and plates, Hog Heaven's real draw is the spicy white sauce that they use to smother the succulent meats. The ingredients are a secret, but the stuff is positively addictive, and many people buy it by the quart or gallon just to bring home for other meals. Hog Heaven also makes a mean selection of sides including baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and a white bean salad. Prices range from $2.50 for a basic sandwich up to $7 for a full plate with sides and cornbread pancakes.
