One of Memphis' oldest eateries, the Arcade has anchored the South Main District since 1925. Originally built by Speros Zepatos to serve hungry travelers from the nearby Central train station, the ambience at the Arcade -- from the black-and-white tiled floor to the Formica countertops and vintage vinyl booths -- has remained virtually unchanged over the years. Pizza was added in the 1990s, and the thin-crust, vegetable-topped pies proved so popular that the current owner, Speros' grandson, kept them on the menu.

Today's customers reflect the re-gentrification of the neighborhood: Hipsters like to drop in for a slice of pizza on Friday night, then tour the South Main art galleries that dot the area. The Arcade's laid-back atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for Sunday breakfast -- pick up the newspaper and settle into a booth.
