Blue Plate Special: Steaks, beer bread, Angus beef and seafood.
The Dish: With the promise to offer authentic food with the flavor of the cowboy campfire of long ago, the Saltgrass Steak House is regionally known for not skimping on quality. All beef is 100 percent certified Angus. The steaks are served up topped with garlic butter and the restaurant's own Saltgrass Steak Spice (also available for purchase). Also on the menu are soups, salads, sandwiches, seafood and desserts. Sides include baked potatoes, Texas rice and sauteed veggies. One unique item is the Shiner Bock beer bread.
The Atmosphere: The Saltgrass Steak House is rustic looking and laid-back. It offers a chance to dine on quality steaks in a casual atmosphere. There are also party rooms and catering services available. Patrons are usually families, couples or groups of friends -- but also expect business people doing lunch. -- Vanessa Smith

My husband and I ate here on our last night in San Antonio......I wish we had tried it earler.....this would have been the ONLY place we dined while there. Exceptional food and fantastic wait staff. Eat here....you will be glad you did....!!!

We travel from Corpus Christi to San Antonio (approx 150 mi) to eat at Saltgrass. It is the only place I have ever eaten excellent Angus beef cooked the way I prefer it. I like my steaks well done and Not dry. They can do it. Wonderful flavor, cooked to perfection---without having to send it back to be cooked more---and they don't cook it dry and hard. Great side dishes and fabulous margaritas served by a fantastic wait staff. Not just my favorite steakhouse---my Only steakhouse.
It's Not Ruth's Chris or Mortons-and that's a Good Thing
Going out for good steak-yeah, you expect it to cost more. The thing about Saltgrass is it serves almost comparable steak to Ruth's Cris (hey, when there is a $30-40 difference for steak that isn't qualitatively that much different...), is filling, a fun place-go here for steaks.
