Since opening in 1987, Vinnie's Steakhouse & Tavern has established itself as a prime dining spot for Raleigh residents. The traditional wood-paneled interior, complete with atmospheric dim lighting and shining brass bar, harkens back to the Eisenhower era, and the menu is a steak-and-seafood lover's dream. Vinnie's booths are often filled with the suit-and-tie crowd, and the three private rooms are frequently booked for business meetings. This is a nice spot for a romantic evening as well -- whoever is paying for this meal will certainly impress, as the prices are decidedly steep.
Start off with a bowl of soup; Vinnie's onion is a favorite. You can dig into appetizers such as oysters Rockefeller, jumbo shrimp cocktail or hot crab dip. Red meat entrees include filet mignon, king-cut prime rib, baby back ribs and New York strip. Perhaps you're in the mood for a seafood selection? Try the grilled scallops, fried jumbo shrimp or lobster tail. The surf and turf is a popular choice for those who can't choose between the two. You can also order Italian specialties including eggplant Parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs and shrimp scampi. The wine list here is extensive, and Vinnie's also has a full bar. Reservations for dinner must be made by 10AM on the same day.

Wonderful
Having come from Kansas City (23 years ago) I have been to some superb steakhouses and this one rates with any of them. My wife and I love the atmosphere because it isn't frilly and fru-fru. Vinnie's is certainly a place for manly men and women who appreciate that quality in a man. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service and will continue to return for our special occasions.

The filet mignon was fabulous! Side orders of various veggies were the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Looks like there has been a big improvement over past reviews or I visited on just the right night. I would definitely eat there again. It is a little pricely but well worth it for special occasions.
What a disappointment
High prices, slow service, smoky room, not that great food make this loser a "never again"
I've had better on airlines
Grossly overpriced, truck stop waitresses have more personality and professionalism. Reminds me of the Eastern New Jersey mob hangouts, with chefs just out of cooking in the joint kitchen, dining room staff trained in the joint and food left over from the joint. Business gatherings! -- Why would anyone want to give business associates indigestion
