Inside this popular steakhouse, a large wall of windows overlooks the Monongahela River and offers a breathtaking view of downtown Pittsburgh. Tiny white lights overhang the dining space, creating a twinkling, intimate atmosphere. An elegant baby grand piano plays tunes automatically, as if enchanted by the beautiful setting.
Ah, but would the ambience amount to much if the menu didn't, too? Probably not. Good thing the food at Pittsburgh Rare is as appetizing as the view. Located in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel at Station Square, this spot serves heavyweight dishes of steak, chops, seafood and pasta. Begin your evening meal with the portobello fondue, steak bruschetta or crock of baked five-onion soup. Then, satisfy your craving for quality meat with filet mignon, stuffed veal chops or porterhouse steak. Seafood more your thing? Try the fresh lobster or cedar-plank salmon. Don't worry too much about overindulging in the wine list -- the restaurant's Sunday brunch buffet is sure to kill your hangover.

I workd as the Executive Level Concierge for over 3 years at what used to be the Hilton Pittsburgh. I have eaten at many of Pittsburgh's finest restaurants and the seakhouses are my favorites, I love Mortons and was invited there alot, nothing beats their quality and service, everything about Ruth's Chris hails in comparison, If it wasn't for their name they would be out of buisness by now, in Pittsburgh. There is however a restaurant, almost hidden in the Sheraton hotel in Station Square called Pittsburgh Rare and they do a steak unlike anything I have ever had. The style, like the restaurant, is called Pittsburg rare style and it is done by charring the steak on both sired in a red-hot cast iron skillet then rubbing it in butter leaving it bloddy in the center with a delicious crust on the outside. Anyone who loves steak an is visiting Pittsburgh I would recomend this as a must visit steakhouse. Please don't waste your time with the Ruth's Chris, its overcrowded, overlighted, and the service sucks. If you want to be treated like a VIP go to Mortons, but if you want the best steak that I personally can ever recall having then please try Pittsburgh Rare in Station Square. You will remember the experience and recomend it to others, I promise you.

The signature steak is orgasmic and overshadows any lack in service or ambiance which in my opinion were adequate. As far as the price goes.... You get what you pay for. My only complaint is no expresso machine.

The restaurant was okay but the service was terrible. We went to dinner Saturday at 7:45 and it took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to be done because our waiter was never there.Tables around us came and went as we sat there being upset.Thank God it was in the Enjoyment book but it still was not worth the $80.00 we spent for our meal even though our meal was okay the service turned us right away. When we go to a place like this we expect everything to be perfect. This time we fell a little short. For the price I think I'd go to Ruth's Chris because although it may cost a little more I've never had a bad experience there. Thanks!
