Local has officially become one of those DC joints that's ready for the graveyard. Back in the day, it had the great food, the music and even the drinks were o.k. But, they've certainly gone by the way side and been embarassingly unable to keep with the likes of 18th Street Lounge and Saint Ex.

Sadly, even the rooftop doesn't make up for the lackluster service. The lines at the bar are usually 3 or 4 deep -- and it's not because the joint is crowded -- it's because the bartenders no longer care.

Some sort of new management or chef must have made its way in the door because the food is certainly nothing to shout about. Especially when you consider the options around Local along U Street.

I'd say take your party elsewhere and when you're ready to just have a drink with only a couple of friends -- walk a few more steps to Chi Cha or head over to Connecticut Ave. Local is a waste.

local 16 used to be our FAVORITE place to eat. we would go twice a month, when they had entrees. the menu now is so so, some good and some gross. but the service is EXCELLENT, and that makes up for alot. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD MENU
