In New Orleans historic buildings are never torn down -- they're simply converted into restaurants or bars. Exhibit A is Mimi's in the Marigny, located in a beautiful century-old structure with huge windows. The windows stay open all day, even with the air-conditioning running, flooding the place with sunlight. The bar is half a block long and the ample floor space is filled with a bumper pool table, video games, dart boards, televisions, and still there's plenty of room to wander around. Mimi's opens late afternoons and stays open till the wee hours of the next morning, and Marigny residents happen in all night long.
This is a great laid-back bar -- no big special nights or theme parties here -- the locals love to have a place to call their own, and this has become just that. Chill out and bring your lap top. Mimi's has WiFi access. They also have a small tapas menu too: seviche with yuca chips, empanadas too. Hey, you have to have something spicy to munch on with your Corona. -- Paul A. Greenberg

What going out is all about
It is difficult to say something to embody the experience. Mimi's gives me hope for our city. We went to see Washboard Chaz and the vibe was great. The people I spoke to were intelligent. The experience brought us joy. Try the food.

We came here to hear Lynn Drury, before the first day of Jazz Fest this year. It was a lot of fun and the tapas menu was good too.
Feels like home...
I spent a good amount of time in N.O. and i have to say, this place always made me feel like I was @ my home bar in L.A. The people of N.O. are great and if this is what you call a "locals" place"... well lets just say I became a "local". Thanks for the great memories... Where's the Herradura Mimi?
