Nick and Rudy know how to run a restaurant. When their establishment opened in August 2000, they had about 65 years of restaurant management experience between them, separately operating the Opryland Hotel's Old Hickory restaurant and Opryland's catering service. Together, they opened Nick and Rudy's, a fine-dining eatery that boasts some of the best steaks, fresh seafood and veal in Nashville. Located across the street from Vanderbilt Law School, Nick and Rudy's offers an intimate candlelight setting with white linen tablecloths, a perfect venue to make an impression on that first date. The restaurant takes care making its Casaer salad and mashes the ingredients together tableside for the patrons to watch. The bar at Nick and Rudy's has happy hour each weekday from 4-7PM, and the piano bar is open Wednesday through Saturday. -- Ben Scott

Great food great service
Nick and Rudy's Steakhouse is a wonderful dining experience. The steaks are top rate as well as the lobster. Reservations are recommended and the atmosphere is a mixture of elegence and down home. The waiters are friendly, helpful, although sometimes forgetful but responded well when reminded.
A 7:30 reservation resulted in prompt seating and attention. The 'Surf and Turf' with mashed potatoes and green beans had good size portions and was presented well. The 49.95 price for this entree' is perhaps a little steep for some restaurant goers, although the food is excellent. The salads were fresh and crisp and the wait staff responded well to ordering details, dressing on the side, etc.
The dessert of Creme Brulee' was the only disappointment as it gave the appearance of having been prepared much earlier, and served right from the cooler. Although the taste was there it could have been better if slightly warm. I would opt for the Bananas Foster for two prepared tableside on the next trip.
The bar and small dance floor were a nice touch but perhaps a little to loud and close to the dining room for some. The restaurant does have the feeling of a lot going on in a small space. It was also very well attended and the crowd was handled well.
Overall, a great dining experience, good atmosphere, and very attentive wait staff. The prices will be steep for some as a meal for two with two drinks each, entree, dessert, and coffee costs about $150.00 + tip.Comments(0)|Add Comment
