As soon as you set foot into this little corner shop located uptown, you notice the thick, flavorful smoke wafting about the place. No, there's no fire...that's just the smell of a hot ham and cheese po-boy about to come off of the grill. Why would you want to eat at a place that seems like it's on fire every time an order is placed? The answer is simple, there is truly no other po-boy shop in the city that serves up food this heavenly. For the past 75 years, Domilise's has remained relatively unchanged, no matter what has happened to the world around it. There's little doubt that the last time that Domilise's even had the furniture rearranged was sometime during the mid-70s. Fortunately, as soon as you bite into one of these po-boys you'll realize why it hasn't had to. Domilise's has come as close to perfect as you can get. As far as the menu goes, you'll find all of the New Orleans classics here: roast beef with gravy, oyster, shrimp, hot and smoked sausage, ham and cheese, plus much more. Whatever you order, you're sure to love it. -- Billy Patout

Family tradition
This is a family spot for our family. From Florida to LA. Weve been going here for years for the shrimp and oyster poboys. Miss Dot and Uncle Raymond are permanent fixtures at that place. Yes The old white haired man behind the counter is my uncle!!

When we make our yearly trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans to visit our most favorite restaurant, we don't want to wait in a line of 50 people to get our po-boys (and then wait in another line of 50 people when we decide to order another round). So don't go here!

As a Loyola student in the mid-60's, we practically LIVED in Domilise's at lunch time....the best poboys in the metropolitan area, without a doubt.
This little jewel of a restaurant is just as good now as it ever was....Try the large pork sausage or large hamburger poboy...heaven on bread!!Nanajojok's Review
First discovered Domilise's in the 1960's and it's still the best place in New Orleans for an oyster po-boy or any other kind for that matter. If you want the real thing, this is it!!!
