Located in Alamo Heights, Volare Gourmet Pizza & Pasta has the facade of a mom-and-pop pizza shop. Inside, the checkerboard pattern tile and the several dining tables a few feet from the ordering counter reinforce the shop's unpretentious atmosphere. While the strictly cheese-and-pepperoni clientele are sure to be satisfied, Volare has much more to offer. Non-standard pizza toppings include broccoli, zucchini and grilled eggplant. Or how about trying a gourmet pizza with shrimp, smoked oysters, marinated chicken, pine nuts or baby corn? Volare even offers the option of whole wheat pizza crust. Order one of the suggested pizza creations or design your own from the numerous toppings available. Calzones, pasta, salads and spicy buffalo wings are also available. Be one of the eight people who can comfortably dine in or, better yet, stake your claim to one of the park benches that surround the quaint fountain on Volare's patio. -- Chris Jones

Mom and Pop authentic Italian Restaurant that you would find on a street corner in New York San Francisco or Chicago, We went to the Stone Oak location on Huebner and again the owner was there and very attentive to see that our dinner was superb a great dining experience we were tired and not ready for a full dinner and did not listen to the waitress. We had Pizza and it was great but the value lies in the chef special. The chef stopped by and introduced us to his special The owner translated for us. Next time it will be the Linguini with clam sauce. Even though we had pizza the tierra mi su was out of this world. Fresh ingrediants and home made. They have soft Jazz on Friday nights and we will be back for that. 7 to 10 PM should be a real great time. try it, you will like it from other reviews you will see that we are not easily impress and we were with Volare.

  • The food is great and the service is better

My friend and I ate at Volare's one night, and both of us were completely won over by the down home atmosphere and the perfectly cooked pizza...I knew Volare's had a great reputation among Incarnate Word students and Alamo Heights residents, but when I actually went there on a Friday night for a meal, the experience exceeded my excpectations. Our waitress and the owner of Volare's were the epitome of San Antonio service...all we had to do was start up a conversation with them, and next thing you know, my friend Sylvia and I were receiving complimentary glasses of wine....This place is definitely worth the trip.

  • Could have been better!!!

I just finished watching Spider-Man 3 and thought that it could have been better. Too many villians and too much love scenes. I believe that if the writers, director, and producers had stuck to a basic story-line the movie would have been more enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy watching the movie and have absolutely loved watching the previous two movies, but this one could have definately been better. Just a little recommendation, if a forth one is to be made, PLEASE try to leave out all the extra love stuff! I want to seean Action movie not a Romance.

  • The Best...

We got lost around Volare's and decided to stop to eat. We've been there almost every week since. We drive almost half an hour from UTSA all the way over there for the best pizza and calzones in San Antonio. I can't even eat Domino's or Pizza Hut anymore!
