More than the wood-paneled tavern and pizza parlor it began life as, the Star now aims to take slightly higher Italian cuisine to the masses. Witness a menu packed with stuff like spicy shrimp and calamari fra diavolo, chicken parm, lasagna, shrimp with portobello mushrooms, and linguine with clam sauce. The sandwich menu has been expanded to take in not only the usual meatball-and-eggplant subs, but also sausage parms, cheesesteaks and various permutations of pepper, potato and egg. Still, it's the pizza you should come for: irregularly shaped, crunchy charred crusts that rival those of the best Brooklyn joints. Try a plain cheese pie, a spinach-and-mozza pie or a portobello-pine nut version, or just get one with everything. All the pies come with the signature thin crust, except the tasty Sicilian tomato pie (with fresh garlic, grated Romano cheese and Italian tomatoes), which comes with a thick crust.

Star is the best thin crust in the world. I have been going since a little girl. Love seeing Brenda still there doing her best to please everyone even when it's crowded on the weekend.

  • still as good as when my dad used to bring it home for us on Friday nights

The pie was one of the worst I have ever had, cheese was horrible/ to salty, sauce was nasty, dough was not bad. A pint of bud 3.50, you have got to be kidding! My wife had the eggplant parm sandwich witch she enjoyed.
