Pete & Elda's has been serving up thin-crust pizzas for over 50 years, way before it became a culinary trend in this country. In fact, it was only a couple of decades ago that they were made fun of for cheaping out on the dough. But they've never wavered on the recipe to their super-thin-crust pizza, which hasn't changed since it was brought over from the Old World. Thank god for that, because their pizza is the perfect ratio of sweet-and-tangy sauce to cheese. Pete & Elda's is also famous for its pizza challenge, and it's a big one: If you eat a whole extra large pizza by yourself, you get a free T-shirt. They change their T-shirt designs often so people keep coming back for the challenge, and they don't offer the shirts for sale. Believe it or not, a surprising number of people manage to accomplish this huge task. Although Pete & Elda's is most famous for its pizza, dinner entrees like manicotti and veal parmesan are the ultimate in Italian-American comfort food.

I dont know who wrote the review but thin crust pizza has been regularly been served and quite popular in traditional NYC italian neighborhoods for at least 100 years now, just google it or find a pizza show on a food network for proof. As for the quality of pizza, the only words that come to mind are "you cant get good pizza in jersey" as any native New Yorker can tell you simply throwing together a pizza and cooking it is not merely enough. The dough is disgusting, the cheese is of poor quality and the sauce tastes straight from the can/jar. I ordered my pie well done and was immediatly given a look of someone with 3 heads. I had to explain I didnt want the pizza underdone but crisp and well- well done. So I got an under-done raw pizza, so it was sent back and the same pizza was returned burnt. Avoid this place at all costs the free t-shirt isnt worth the disgusting torture your mouth will suffer. NO GOOD ABEETZ HERE

People this is not good pizza. I think people get use to what they grow up with and they cant think out of the box. I have had much better pizza in nj and the comment about Deninos is so wrong.
Best ever
Always has and always will be my favorite of faves. Papery crust still has a ton of flavor and the balance on top is perfect. Ting-a-Lings in Newark comes in a hard second for a completely different (and burnt bubble) pie. Love P&E's pizza
