Among the many pizzerias in town, the Tower stands as one of the grande dames. Sitting humbly in a Metairie strip mall, it verges on retro in terms of ambience and decor. A dozen tables, serviceable but not chic, accommodate the loyal families and neighbors who line up at the Tower when they crave bubbling hot, cheesy pizza. With dough being flipped in full view to the sounds of Sicilian and New Orleans crooners, the atmosphere is warm even when the air conditioning is cranked. The group-friendly menu includes an abundance of Italian comfort foods, but addictive thin-and-crunchy crust, homemade sauce, bountiful cheeses and Mediterranean meats make pizza the main event. Though vegetarian versions are available, boutique pizza this is not. Look for the old reliable toppings: pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives and the like. Also popular are antipasto, Italian salad and spaghetti. -- Michaela Morrissey

  • Tower is best pizza ever! Italian and artichoke salads are great too!

The owner is very nice and can actually be seen making the pizza sometimes. He actually cares about the business. You can see he has eaten a lot of his own pizza. He is always smiling. Tower has not changed in 35 years and should never change. Family friendly. Excellent salads, pizza, and beer. Duke is the fastest pizza maker I have ever seen. He can make a pizza in about 30 seconds and always great. He is a pizza ninja. You can watch your pizza being made and cooked through the giant window. The wait staff is very nice and service is always on time. Lovely ladies work there especially the one with short black hair and glasses. Excellent pizza eat there once and you will never want any other pizza.

The pizza was average. Definitely no where near the best in NOLA. Our server completely forgot about us, and the service was just generally slow.

Just walked out. Bad service & raw pizza. Avoid the bathrooms. Go to Mark Twain on Metairie Rd.
