With a name like Daddabbo behind the recipe, you know the pizza is good. Since 1954, this tiny, carry-out only, family-run joint has baked up the perfect pies based on Mama Mary's simple, secret recipe. Not much more than a hole-in-the-wall, Chester's has been one of the best-kept-secrets in Hamilton and probably has contributed to its tourism dollars. Word of mouth and loyal customers keep this place thriving. The pizzas are all made fresh from Mary's recipe and topped with 100% "full" milk cheese -- a 50-50 mix of provolone and mozzarella, and other classic toppings, like pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, green peppers, bacon, onions, and more. Although pizza is the star here, Chester's also features a few signature hoagies served on home-baked Italian bread. Try the Sailor Boy -- shaved ham, cappacola, bologna and salami, provolone cheese and creamy Italian sauce over onions, baked until gooey -- wow! Spaghetti and lasagna are also offered, as are delicious loaves of homemade garlic bread. Chester's is worth the driveand the hunt. The place is easy to miss, so open your windows and wait for the scent of pizza to waft in.
