Jersey invades Austin, and the results are surprisingly good. Anyone who knows Jersey pizza knows it's nearly unbeatable. The cheese is just superior and Saccone's, one might say, is the big cheese. Choose from toppings including sweet peppers, pork, meatballs, eggplant, garlic and artichoke hearts. Try one of the family specials such as the Mom & Dad's: extra-thin-crust pizza with fresh basil, pepper, oregano and a light sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. If this doesn't tickle your East Coast pie fancy, grab some buffalo wings and jalapeno poppers, or one of the many hot or cold subs. Philly cheese steaks (with peppers, onions and mushrooms), meatball parmigiana and tuna are tops, and the calzones are a good bet. During the week, Saccone's sells pizza by the slice, making it lunch-friendly. Be sure to save room for espresso cheesecake or cannoli.
