Theatre has long been a draw for city and suburban concertgoers alike. Originally a 1920s movie house (a live band would accompany the silent films shown on the big screen), the Tower has evolved into one of the more civilized places in and around the city to see live music. Ushers show you to your assigned seat (either in the downstairs orchestra section or upstairs in the balcony), concerts start on time and any unruliness is quickly quelled by security. The Clear Channel-booked acts tend to be either those just on the cusp of stardom, or those whose audience would appreciate a slightly more sedate venue -- which means acts as diverse as Jason Mraz, the Isley Brothers, Elvis Costello and Belle & Sebastian have all graced the Tower's stage.

I've seen at least Six or Seven shows at the Tower and It's in my neigborhood so I might be bias. I love it. Where else can you just hope on the trolly and walk right in to see Ween and the next week The Stones. It's classic and I'm glad they started bringing all the great acts back here.

The tower sucks. It needs a complete renovation. I'm embarrassed when any on comes to the city to perform.
