If you've got a hip attitude and a degree from a Pittsburgh college, chances are you've hung out in Friendship, the quaint residential neighborhood always throbbing with martini parties. And if you've hung out in Friendship, you've probably heard of the Sharp Edge, the mythic pub that serves more than 300 varieties of beer from nearly every continent. Never tried a light Tsingtao? A Belgian stout? The Sharp Edge boasts a beer list as expansive as a phone book, with perhaps the rarest selection in the city. If that isn't gimmick enough, the top-notch service also offers a ''mystery brew'' -- a $3 draft that is never identified, no matter how pleading your inquiries. The Sharp Edge also serves a delicious array of pub fare, from sweet buffalo wings to robust burgers and fries. Just don't expect speedy service come game time -- playoffs and World Series tend to jam the place with screaming fans.

I went two days ago and I have been incredibly sick. Unfortunately for the S.E.B.E., I only ate there in a 24 hour period, it really couldn't even have been from anything else. I called them and talked to a manager, but they said that if I can't garuntee it's their food that gave me this, then they won't do anything about it. So guess what I'm doing about it?! Yes, I am finding everywhere I can post this message and I'm telling everyone else before they go there!

  • NOT BAD

    Review rating : 3out of 5   gmpensfan - 06/27/2004

I've been there a few times because of the great selection of beers. The food isn't bad either. This place has one of the biggest and best tasting grilled chicken salads I've ever had. I wouldn't go there to meet chicks, though, unless I was willing to take a risk. Although the beer is very overpriced, that risk I talked about could be well worth it.

I was just there a few nights ago ... and it seems that the other user reviews are correct. I wish I would have gone somewhere else.

  • I had a blast

    Review rating : 2out of 5   z28flashback - 06/12/2004

Two Stars = The TWO hours it took to get a drink brought to the table! I could brew beer and have myself a drink sooner than these guys take to pour it. The food gave me a stomach ache (bites), the beer took forever, and no one really seemed to want to wait on us. I'll probably go back because I believe in second chances (if only they'd bring back the IROC for a second chance!!!), but I do have to say I wouldn't bet on them being a great time if it's your first chance to get away from the kids in a while ...

  • The Truth

I will give it one star because they do have a very nice (yet SERIOUSLY overpriced) beer selection. You can now find most of these beers cheeper all around Pittsburgh. Beyond the beer? I will never be going back to this place, there's some real sleazy things going on here.
