It's tough to walk past the Steak Company without going in -- a red awning, which extends across the sidewalk, draws attention to an antique-style wood facade, which draws attention to the tempting menu posted by the door. An organic motif continues inside -- offsetting the raw-brick walls is more spruced-up vintage wood, including a bar with an illuminated stained-glass panel. Tabletops are covered with tough copper sheeting, and dim chandeliers and hanging greenery provide warm ambience.
The dinner crowd generally is affluent, low-key and, most of all, eager for top-notch beef. As the evening wears on, however, the space grows crowded with younger, well-heeled South Side revelers. On Friday nights, a band sets up near the front window and entertains with jazz and blues standards.
This restaurant takes steak seriously, so you're encouraged to allow the chef ample prep time and to refrain from ordering that T-bone well-done. (The horror!) Seafood and pasta dishes, such as chicken appollonia (with feta, spinach and garlic), stuffed orange-seasoned roughy and penne fra diavolo also are popular. All entrees come with a fresh tossed salad and plenty of Italian bread, so there's little chance you'll head home hungry.

This is for people that have never been to a good steak house
The atmosphere is OK. The prices are cheap. But it seems you get what you pay for. After giving The Pittsburgh Steak Company several chances, it seems that the food is just not very good. Every time it has been "not great." This is a cheap steak house. That is just what it is. You will not pay Morton's or Ruth's Chris prices, but you also won't receive that quality food. Putting this on the list is like putting Pizza Hut on the list for best Pizza. If you love Pizza Hut this place might just be for you.

A memorable meal was had there. Now, with the prices of gasoline and other things I'm looking forward to a Jumbo sandwich and coffee at Tom's Diner....
Mistaken or just Stupid

I really think that the folks that are cutting on this place have confused it with another place or are just writing made up junk because they're 15 years old and acting like it, (pending litigation, get over yourself)! My wife and I have been going there since we started dating years ago and have never had a bad experience. I don't know who owns the place and don't care but the staff makes me feel like an old friend every time I go in there. Every steak I have ever eaten has been top notch. Kudos to you Pgh Stk Co.
Great Food
One of the best Steak Houses around. Nice size Steaks. Great Pasta and Fish. Their drinks are cheaper then most places and friendly staff. They also are locally owned and dont take their money back to LA or NY.
GET OVER IT
I have been to PGH Steak Co over 50 times. We go once a month and EVERY time we go it gets better than the last. It keeps getting better and better. My Fillet is done PERFECT med rare and the french onion soup is to DIE for. They cater to my 5 year old and make her feel very comfortable. It is hard to find a kid friendly NICE place to eat. I will keep going back and enjoying the food with the FRIENDLY people and service.
Management Missing the mark
I have tried this place more than once. I can only figure that the good ratings this place gets is from friends or family. I have not had such a bad experience with any restaurant as I had here. The editors that gave this place a high rating have lost credability with me. The location is good, the interior is homey, but the restaurant does not warrant a rating higher than 2 stars, and that would be for the bar, not the service or the food.
Overrated
I live in the 'Burgh and have gone to this restaurant/bar four times with friends. This place is no big deal and is overated. Stay away from steak houses that constantly advertise on the radio. Great steakhouses advertise by word of mouth.
