The original Max & Erma's German Village opened in Columbus, Ohio, in 1972 and has since become a widespread chain. The Shadyside restaurant, in the heart of the Walnut Street shopping district, is one of several locations in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Positioned on the second floor of a storefront building, the restaurant, thanks to wainscoting and stained-glass windows, makes a warm, old-fashioned setting for business dining and shopping breaks.

A diverse menu features comfort foods such as meatloaf and chicken pot pie. Specialty appetizers include crab-and-spinach dip and black-bean roll-ups. The gourmet burger selection includes Cajun, horseradish and portobello patties, as well as the trademark Garbage Burger, which is topped with pretty much everything you can imagine. Max & Erma's also has a variety of pasta and chicken dishes and a menu for kids 12 and under.

Just another chain establishment with more hype than substance. If you think high class dinning is the "Olive Garden" you'll love this place, too.

I go to the one in Cranberry (mars) weekly and LOVE IT! The menu is great with a wide variety of meals at low costs. They now have the "3 degrees of temptaion" which allows you over 300 varieties of meal combination, starting with soup or salad, an entree and a signature dessert starting at 13.99. Great food, Great service and Great atmosphere makes this a place to be. Also, they have a rewards card that allows you to get a discount everytime you eat! what could be better??

You MUST try the Garbage Burger, BUT ask for extra napkins, you'll need em'.If burgers aren't on your agenda, there's a wide selection on their menu to satisfy your hunger with large portions.

During a day of shopping on and around Walnut Street, my friends and me decided to visit Max & Erma's. I was hoping to find something different than a typical Max & Erma's restaurant. Other than layout, the food was the same and the atmosphere was a little less than anticipated or used to from other Max & Erma's.
I wasn't impressed by Max & Erma's on Walnut, but I'm sure I'll be back for a burger.

I have only been in Pittsburgh for a few months, this is the only place that has made me want to go back to eat. I'm not use to this...I'm from a state that is known for its food. I have only been there once, but I hope that mostly everything taste as good as their Cajun burger.

theres something to look forward to in every course of the meal...i prefer to start off with a bowl of tortilla soup. Then for the main course, they have the absolute best fried shrimp ever. Finally, you cant go their without having th amazing chocolate chip cookies.
