  • Loved it!!

I read the reviews on here for Lidia's and was half afraid to even go for dinner! I was pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible, service wonderful and I have no idea where all the negative reviews are coming from. If you are looking for spaghetti and meatballs, or hot sausage sandwich, this is not the place for you. This is Northern Italian cuisine, not Olive Garden or Spaghetti Warehouse type food. We had the pasta sampler and osso bucco.

Had the Bloody Mary lunch on Saturday and was very disappointed. Service was poor. Food was worse. Save your money. How they stay in business is a mystery. Had some true Italian cooks in our group and they all said the food was bad.

  • Money Wasted

    Three people that ordered
the 10oz porkchop all said it was terrible. The gnochi with duck was greasy. To spend that much money and all four of us thought the meals were terrible is a shame.Something needs to be changed!(New chef
or a new menu).Maybe Lidia should do the cooking herself.

We had the Sunday buffet and we were all disappointed. The bloody Mary's were even average. We were underwhelmed.

  • BAD ITALIAN!

    Review rating : 1out of 5   elisachristine22 - 01/18/2005

Only in Pittsburgh would a restaurant this terrible survive. The food is just plain terrible. I dine out often and this is one of the worst "upscale" restaurants in this city. Its definitely the worst Italian restaurant. (Gerasole in Shadyside blows this place away). I've tried it at least 3 times and all 3 times have been terrible. Everything about the food is terrible. The pasta was terrible and greasy all 3 times. The salad was gross.
The wait staff was very nice though on all of my times there.

If you like that sort of place then it's for you. I didn't care for much of anything there. the servers even had an arrogance about them...

  • Great!

Had Dinner Saturday, September 11th with 10 people as a birthday celebration. Most of us ordered the pasta trio sampler as a prix fixe option that included a very nice ceasar salad and tirimisu. The featured pastas were sweet potato stuffed ravioli with sage butter sauce, shrimp with linguine topped with spicy marinara and rigatoni with short rib ragu. All of them excellent and served hot by the server. Other entrees included a 20 ounce bone in ribeye, mushroom canoloni and lemon chicken. We shared quite a few appetizers that were all very good, and also got a dessert sampler for $3.50 per person. Probably the best meal I have had in Pittsburgh!

Now it has just slipped into the usual Burgh mediocrity

We had lunch at Lidia's on a Saturday afternoon. Not family friendly at all. No high chairs or booster seats. No kids menu. Very quiet. Not really casual attire either. I was not impressed with the food either. Not very many menu items to choose from but then I guess we ARE the red sauce and meatball type. Excellent service.
