Lidia's
Lidia's Pittsburgh restaurant is such a great addition to our semi-foodless town. Don't get me wrong I love the Pittsburgh usuals, but real culinary enthusiasts have a hard time surviving here. Lidia's is helping expand our tastes for good, authentic food. Thanks Lidia. See you again soon!
DRatch7018 - 07/22/2009lidias restaurant is not a good or even mediocer italian restaurant. it goes to show that people who write rave reviews really don't know what italian food should taste like. Overated, overpriced.
my birthday dinner
Recently treated to a birthday dinner at Lidia's and the experience was exceptional. The pasta sampler was my choice and featured an outstanding pan seared ravioli. The service was good. The atmosphere was pleasant. Definately will be on my list for a return visit.
great food, great staff
I was very pleased to come back to Pittsburgh and find such a good quality restaurant with a staff that exhibits the friendliness of this town. The food is excellent. The staff is very versed in the menu selections and there is no rushing you out the door. I would definitely recommend this restaurant which I have now frequented more than once. Chao
Classic Lidia

Having watched Lidia on TV way before Food Network was born, I was thirlled to dine at Lidia's on a recent trip to Pittsburgh. As a New Yorker (just like Lidia) I couldn't afford the NY prices at her 2 eateries in NYC so I was doubly thrilled. Her weekend brunches are fabulous. Her cuisine is rustic Italian, the kind of folksy food she was brought up on. Her Pittsburgh establishment is well worth a stop in for a fabulous spread with over a dozen entree choices as well for brunch. Fabulous! Brava!
DRatch7018 - 07/22/2009what is "rustic italian". i've been to italy 40 times and never heard this term
tasteless...

I ordered the veal and others ordered the unlimited pasta. this place sucks. the veal had no flavor at all and the pasta was just okay, nothing special. I would eat at bravo anytime over this place. totally not worth the money you spend.

Two thumbs down, wayyyy down!

I dined at Lidia's this past week with 3 others and was very disappointed. When we arrived, we were told our table would be ready shortly, we were then ushered to the bar in an attempt to make us by some of their horribly overpriced drinks. We were out to have a good time and ended up buying a round, big mistake. I was very disappointed with the lack of alcohol in the drinks. When you pay almost ten dollars for a drink, you want a drink, not their overly-iced versions that have little alcohol in them, seems to me that their managers must be real penny-pinchers and are forgetting about satisfying the customers. Once our table was 'ready' as it turns out it was all along, we tried to forget about the bad start and enjoy the night, this would prove to be impossible. We sat around for several minutes and someone finally filled our waters, but we got no menus. A few minutes later, we got bread and a disgusting spread that looked and tasted like a bean dip you would buy at a grocery store. After that our server finally showed up, I swear it was the same guy that played Uncle Fester in the Addams Family. He was nice, but slow on the service. We sat for 8 minutes before we got a menu!!! We ordered the worst appetizer I have ever tasted, a Frico, a extremely greasy fried cheese thing that was too salty and tasted like dung. The salads were next and were very good, the high point of the night. Then came the sorry excuses they called entrees. Two people got their 'famous' (in their own mind) pasta trio. It seems that they just pour olive oil and water on them to keep them 'fresh' looking, too bad that doesn't help the taste. They might want to invest in Prego or Ragu, because that would be an improvement. My wife got the Gnocchi, which were overcooked and not tasty like Uncle Fester said they were. I made the mistake of getting a 20oz. Ribeye, a fatty POS.
To sum up, if you want Italian food, go to Bravo! or a pizza shop, you'll be glad, and richer.
