There are offshoots of Tony Luke's original sandwich joint popping up all over the place -- even in Manhattan, but the most remarkable has to be the Beef and Beer Sports Bar, located directly across the street from the original Tony Luke's. It's an oddly cavernous space, with a second floor mezzanine that has a vague bridge theme to it, but decor is not really the point at Tony Luke's. It's all about the sports -- note the multiple flat screen TVs -- and the food (and, obviously, the beer).
Have the sandwich that made TL famous, the roast pork Italian style (with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone) on house-baked bread or go for a classic cheesesteak. Or, if you're a truly adventurous eater with an iron stomach and a cabinet full of antacids, attempt the ''Big Daddy Luke,'' a three pound behemoth of a burger. Eat it in under 45 minutes and you get a free t-shirt, your photo on the wall and an unbelievable tale to tell.

My View
Actually I have never been to this place but I rated it good just because no restaurant is perfect. You might get a disease from just about anywhere. If there would have been a Veggie Burger Option I would have rated that BEST for health, the Earth, TASTE, the Animals and, last but not least, for the starving people of the world.

I CAN EAT LIKE A HORSE, BUT I COULD NOT FINISH THAT BURGER IN ONE SITTING. IF I ONLY ATE THE MEAT BY ITSELF, THEN YES. BUT NOT WITH ALL THE GOOD STUFF THAT IT COMES WITH. I WILL BE BACK FOR THAT TEE SHIRT.
You guys gotta be kidding me
I had a burger at Tony Lukes and it was horrible as a matter of fact Iv'e had a better burger at the Broad Street Diner they actually have a good Buffalo/Bison meat burger platter with fries and a dill pickle that was delicious

You've Got To Be Kidding!
What a disappointing experience. New to the Philly area my wife and I were very excited to try the local specialties of the area. Last week we went to Jim's Steaks on South Street and had probably the best sandwich of my life. Well...
Word of mouth led us here to Tony Luke's to try the Italian Pork sandwich and find out what a Broccoli Rab is. For a Sunday afternoon the place had drawn what appeared to us to be a respectable crowd. Initial service was pretty good my wife ordering the Hamburger and Italian Pork for me. A side of fries and a basket of rings and we were set or so we thought.
After a 30 minute wait for the food which must have been cooked on the dumpster lid out back as it was barely even warm. The hamburger was very dry and had any goodness in it cooked completley out. My lukewarm pork (no chance of melting the cheese) tasted as if it were cooked yesterday and reheated at best. I kept looking for a green substance in the sandwhich that I hoped would be the broccoli rab but did not find anything. I inquired to the waitress and was informed that I needed to order that speratley but she would be happy to bring me some (now that I'm almost finished).
I also witnessed three other tables recieving incorrect orders while I was sitting there.
Maybe I just went at a bad time but it will be my first and last. Sincerley fred Philly's newest resident.
