This Western-style steakhouse chain has big portions, but who needs to count calories when there's fried cheesecake to be had? Longhorn's signature tenderloin steak is called Flo's Filet, it comes in 7 or 9 ounces, and is also available paired with seafood like grilled shrimp or lobster tail. You can also choose among the bacon-wrapped steak, the bleu-cheese crusted steak, the rib-eye, the Texas T-bone, the prime rib -- the list goes on. The Longhorn specialty is a 20-ounce New York strip steak chargrilled in an open flame. Six rich desserts complete the picture. The classic key lime pie and brownie sundae compete with over-the-top "chocolate stampede" (six kinds of chocolate in a cake served with ice cream, whipped cream and fudge sauce) and the fried cheesecake, also served with ice cream and whipped cream. Drinkwise, the Longhorn's special cocktail is a pomegranate margarita. Longhorn is impressively child-friendly, so check out a seven-item kids' menu ($3.99-$5.99), the $1.99 smoothies, and the free coloring sheets provided with the crayons.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is really cordial and efficient. Our waitress Tara was really nice and attentive. The food was excellent and the shrimp appetizer was great also. Everything about this dining experience was excellent except for someone breaking out the car windows in the parking lot. If you are visiting with foreign tags (i.e not from PA) then please park in front of the restaurant in order to avoid this setback. The police officer that took our report said it happens often enough to visitors.

Service was great, restaurant clean, onion pettles fantastice, but my filet mignon had no taste to it. More then likely it was frozen and sat in the water from the defrosting. Gone back to enjoy their soup and onion petels.

Most Longhorns that I have been to have good food and decent service. So I was happy to see one open in South Philly. As always, when a place first opens it's always busy, but everyone seems attentive and the waitstaff was pretty good. But within about 6 months, that all changed. Once, after I was finished with my meal and the waitress dropped off the check, I waited for 20 minutes for her to come back to take my money. During that 20 minutes, she waited on 3 other tables around me, but never came back to my table. Needless to say, I left a zero tip. The next 3 or 4 times I went back, the service really wasn't any better. Once I waited with my girlfriend for almost 15 minutes for a table, while I could plainly see 4 or 5 tables with no one at them. We walked out and went to Famous Daves and got a table and was waited on within 2 minutes. The quality of food means nothing without service. What's the sense in getting a good steak, if the service aggravates you to the point of indigestion?!? I will never go back to the Longhorn in South Philly, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. It wouldn't surprise me to see it closed within the next year.

Always have enjoyed the meals at the 'Longhorn' located in Trooper. Even with some staff turnover, the service has been consistent and
I think the New York Strip is better than the Outback. You don't need to go to a 'pricey' place in order to get a good steak. Longhorn fills the bill. Usually go by myself or with my wife 1-2 times a week. Would not go back if I was not happy with the food or the service.

I was there March 22 with friends. The service was good and the food was excellent. I had a bacon wrapped steak that was charbroiled and fabulous. I will definitely recommend Longhorn and go there again.

We went on a saturday afternoon. There was only one other table of people sitted. We all ordered steaks. The were brought out 20mins later and these steaks were all cooked the wrong way and covered in some sort of broth. It was difficult to complain because we never seen our server until the end. This has to be one of my worst dining experiences ever.Over priced steaks that tasted horrible.I understand now why noone was in there.
