If you've never been to South Street institution Tattooed Mom's, dont fear the crowd of regulars that flocks to this artsy boite -- they may look intimidating, but this place is known for its mellow, unpretentious vibe. Owned by Robert Perry and Kathy "Mom" Hughes, the same pair behind Sugar Mom's in Old City, Tattooed Mom's has played host to a diverse crowd of indie rockers, goths, punks, artists and regular folks looking for a cheap place to drink on a Saturday night without being drawn into the typical South Street madness. (In addition to being a laid-back place to drink, Tattooed Mom's also has a decent bar menu thats similar to Sugar Mom's -- think burgers, fries, corn dogs and the like.) Known for, among other things, its jukebox (indie rock, hip-hop and punk dominate) and its support of local artists, Mom's is a place where people just want to drink, listen to music and have good conversations. What could be better than that?

Mom's generally rocks. Sometimes the vibe is amazing. Definitely not a spot that will please everyone. It is gritty and sometimes plain old stinky. Staff is great, grub is suprisingly consistently good and inexpensive. Juke box can be an educational experience. Mom's has character and authenticity, like mom herself. I'd like to see a bit more diversity and air that doesn't bite. Hmmm hipness, sometimes it oozes other times it's filled w kids who are desperate for a clue. Ink and blue hair won't entitle you to a hip rating here. It's best when the crowd is really mixed and the place generates a one of a kind groove that is not to be found anywhere else in town.Leo is King

You tell them BRATTGIRL828. If you don't like it, don't come. Although I have to admit I like it best when the yuppies wander upstairs only to turn back down and leave, but I can find entertainment there through other resources. I love it there, and have yet to find another bar that can make anyone feel comfortable. I think I could walk in my pajamas and not get a second look. If you're looking for a place where you won't be judged upon how much you spent on your handbag, this is the place to be.P.S. And the bartenders rock =)

Good food,a good jukebox, especially the one on the first floor.
The drink selection is good and the crowd is fairly young and fun and not what I would consider wild. The bartenders are nice, especially upstairs!
