I will NEVER go back.
Rude is a kind word for the OWNER he is COWARD .
The owner need a bath and a whip. He is disgusting, and agitated.
He can't read, and he can't cook, or he is EXTREMELY Cheap.
To worry about replacing a hamburger???? When his cook didn't COOK It.
Someone needs to learn how to read "WELL DONE".
I can't call him human, I think he may be part Boar & part doodoo.

I am talking about an owner of a business, unprofessional behavior and cursed openly and loudly. This is a dump
My Expierence with this restaurant was a life lesson, don't always think the customer is right or deserves the time of day.
DON'T GO, YOU WILL NO LIKE IT. maybe he will CHOKE one day on his dirty- foul mouth, and I do mean foul. I thought I was in North Philly on the street with hoodlums when he started going off.. Chicken crap..
He would have never spoke to any man the way he spoke to 3 women He is a coward. The waitress's were very nice, they looked like they were scared to death.. Get out now while you still have your diginity.

Penrose is highly overrated.....

Good service I beg To differ........I'v been there many times (mind you I do not know why I go back in the first place.) Anyway...it seems like all the waitresses and managers seem to have a bug up there you know what....when i complained to the manager Billy Dovas (he said his name was) I was told if i didnt like it I could leave I was shocked to be treated like this....very bad service poor management skills. As i was told he is the owners son so it looks like nothing will be done to him anyway.....Well I guess i'll have my breakfast at the Melrose Diner for now on where the waitstaff is pleasant Bye Bye Penrose........

I went to Penrose Diner on 2-22-09 and received the worse service ever. I have gone to this diner for over 15 years and I would have never expected to treated in such a horrible manner. When I called back that day to talk to find out the owners name the manager - Bill Dovas told me he was the owner and hung up the phone. When I called back and spoke to one of the staff to tell them I could not believe the treatment I received that day and that I was going to file a formal complaint she hung up the phone again. I will never return to this establishment again. They claim they appreciate their loyal customers well it is obvious that statement is not true.

The Penrose is a GREAT restaurant! Big, tasty portions and the best wait staff anywhere in South Philly. BUT - I just saw their web site. Why would a classy operation like this have a web site that looks like it was designed by a 12 year-old kid?

My cousin,son, and myself went to this diner. After receiving our meal my child started fussing because he was teething. After 10 minutes an individual came up and and told us to shut our kid up or get out. I was shocked a waiter would speak to us in such a manner. I asked our waitress who the manager was, I was told he was. When we checked out, he made it a point to check us out. My cousin mentioned that he didnt have to be so rude. he stated he wasnt rude, I said i planned on filing a complaint w/ the owner, he said go ahead- the owner's son. then he said to get our kid and get the hell out of there. dont let what happened to me happen to you

being an x-south philly guy, everytime i visit philly i eat breakfast and dinner at the penrose diner. great food, great prices, great staff. if i could move the penrose diner to clearwater florida i would think that i died and went to heaven.
