An armpit of a bar, Dirty Frank's has been the favorite of the strung-out and underemployed for generations. Books, hubcaps, photos and beer signs populate the walls haphazardly, and decent local artwork is even featured in one area. A fairly large U-shaped bar features a surprisingly good selection of beer on tap and sometimes surly bartenders who like to ignore customers. The dartboard, curiously placed next to the toilet door, features as many holes outside of it as on the board. An interesting variety of solo drinkers, bikers and after-work folks who are unafraid of the down-and-out and slurred-speech regulars also spend their nights here. A very good jukebox helps pass the time at this legendary dive.

julsin5 - 09/19/2003well thew only thing i can say is screw you guys bill jody alan sheila. i thank you and my liver thanks you. i hope that all the money i have spent in franks goes to my breast reduction, because I know you are all sick of looking at my breasticles. thanks for putting up with my sheeeeeottt for all these years. when I die i want my liver to be an art exhibition for all the damaged livers that come after me. here in 1958 when it was
still a wino bar. we
would buy a quart of
beer and 6 glasses for
25 cents and hang in a
booth all night.
Foirtunately it hasn't
changed very much and is
still a great hangout
and place to meet
interesting women. I met
my second wife there in

mraroma - 03/05/2000Frank's is dirty, and the bathrooms are usually pretty vile. It's the people that make Dirty Frank's such a great bar. They're unpretentious and (usually) not drunken loudmouths. If you just want to sit and watch the hockey game, you can do that in peace. But if you want to talk to someone, just look around and you can enter into topics ranging from motorcycle repair to mutual fund performance comparisons to classic rock to techniques for sculpting in unusual media.
