Brasserie Perrier is Georges Perrier's restaurant for young people. The bar/lounge sits up front and outside there is a smattering of tables. With its own, more affordable menu, the lounge fills up quickly after working hours with the young and moneyed and has a lively buzz. The decor boasts jagged lines, copper colors and even some playful cutout wooden paintings of French meals. The care for comfort and quality of service are applaudable. Fine French food rules the day here: Tender free-range chicken with creamy eggplant risotto makes you want to shout, "Vive La France!" as does the potato-crusted halibut accompanied by crab orzo pasta. In the lounge, indulge yourself with steak frites, a perfect accompaniment to tall glass of beer, or the richer roasted leg of lamb with spicy sausage on mascarpone risotto. Although not exactly quiet and romantic, Brasserie Perrier is still a top destination for dates, as well as a haunt for singles. -- Josh McIlvain

During Restaurant Week.
This is a great place to frequent during restaurant week, The food was excellant and the atmosphere was great. We even got to see Govenor
Rendell there. He had just finished eating and was greating some friends. SACAdd CommentSuperb!
I took my mother and sister for dinner at Brassiere Perrier, and it was amazing! The Chef came out and spoke a little bit to everyone in the lounge. The server was wonderful. I had the free-range chicken with lobster mashed potatoes. The entire meal was scrumptious! My sister and mother had the cavatelli in a tomato butter sauce...they both could not get over how delicate everything tasted. Hands down a success! Chef Perrier and Chef Chris Scarduzio rule with their hospitality, charm and delicious food. Two thumbs up and five stars all-around.
Surprisingly bad experience

My friends and I looked forward to this dinner, which turned out to be the "Best bad experience I've had at a restaurant" according to one friend... meaning it was almost amusing how ineptly the whole episode was handled.
It was as if we were victims of a prank. The service was indifferent, slow, and our server never told us her name.. My steak (14 oz bone-in strip) was overcooked to the point of being completely gray inside. Gross. My mashed potatoes were almost runny, with no flavor. Only the onion rings deserved praise - crisp and light. Other dinners were better, but not outstanding. As we dined, Christmas carols(in jazz) were playing, despite it being mid-February. One waiter loudly agreed it was absurd for carols to be playing.
After returning the overcooked steak, we were offered complimentary desserts, which at first seemed like a nice gesture; 20 minutes later we were served the wrong desserts. The Creme Brulee was a standout in that it tasted "like lighter fluid and scrambled eggs", a description everyone at the table agreed with. Even the apology was flubbed by this restaurant.
One overwhelming impression was that much of the food tasted like high-end Sysco - That's OK if you are eating buffet in a Casino in Atlantic City, but this is Philly and fresh, excellent ingredients are always expected, even at much less expensive restaurants. Not one of our dishes approached the standards of an "Excellent" restaurant.
As a final insult, one of my friends had to vomit after coming home (she had fish).
Reading the other negative reviews I see recurring themes. We are dealing with a restaurant that has bad nights more than once in a blue moon. The chef cannot cook a steak to medium, the staff openly acknowledges shortcomings but the manager is nowhere to be seen, the decor fails to inspire, reminding me of an airport hotel restaurant.
Philly has so many great restaurants, many much less pricey with better food and service.Wonderful Experience
I recently had a reunion luncheon. Every course was beyond my expectations. My only criticism is when dessert was served and several in our group requested hot tea, it took quite a bit of time for the servers to return with the tea (which was pre-brewed) and the water was tepid. I was surprized that a first class restaurant would treat the tea drinking customers like second class citizens.
CLASS ACT
One has to get past the happy hour here, because the place is a class act from opening till closing. I've taken clients there for lunch and dinner, drank at the bar and have enjoyed every aspect of every moment. None of my friends, or clients have ever complained, but they have all gone there on their own, because they like it so much. The patrons are not plastic, and the management and wait staff are legitimately friendly and do everything possible to make each and every patron feel like they are part of the family. Guess you can tell I like this place.
DREADFUL
The waiter poured water into our gin and tonic drinks thinking they were the water glasses. Our guests and we were served the wrong food when the waiter ceremoniously removed the covers. Not one wrong order but all 4. All this by the owner's brother.!!!
Wouldn't you think they'd comped a meal for the embarassment they caused us ? An apology never cut it.
What a fiasco. Don't waste your TIME or MONEYExcellent

Having sampled a bunch of restaurants for this & a few previous restaurant weeks (as well as dining during regular hours), I have to say that BP is a class act. The food was superb...I've never had a NY strip steak so tender that it could be cut with a butter knife. The goat cheese tart with carmelized onions was sweet & rich. The waiter's timing was impeccable. Even though we were ultimately half an hour late for our reservation, our dinner didn't feel the least bit rushed. Truly an enjoyable evening for our group of 5.
The one small mark on the evening would have been the irritated hostess, but luckily she was overshadowed by the dining experience.KWJWCSSSAtownPhilly

Great New Years Eve Dinner. Everything To The Detail. Even The Owner Stopping By Each Table To Chat! Class Act!
Disappointment

We live in NY, and expected to have an experience close to Babbo, Union Sq or Balthazar. Not even close. The service was horrible--from the uninterested host to the infrequently seen waiter. My wife ordered the filet medium--which came extremely well done. We sent it back--only to have another scorched filet appear. Even our waiter was appalled. My veal came out cold first, and then came out fine. While restuarants can clearly have "off" nites, what made this remarkable was that the manager never bothered to come over to ask a question, let alone express his (or her) regrets. Last time we were in Philly, we loved Stipped Bass, and would go there again. Perrier, however, is a real failure in our view.
