In contrast to its former incarnation as Upstairs at Nick's, there's not much understated about 32 Degrees. This Old City spot is one of a few places in town -- Denim, Suede Lounge and Glam also come to mind -- where so-called "European" bottle service, private drink lockers, a VIP lounge and a model-esque clientele are the norm. This being Philly, that clientele is always heavy on athletes, local television personalities and well-coiffed young professionals who revel in their status (the club even accepts the Euro, for all the jetsetters that come through its doors).

They come for the sophisticated, low-lit atmosphere, with its white leather cube seats; the top-of-the-top shelf liquors, which can be ordered in shots of ice; a raw bar; and the DJs, who typically spin a mix of house, hip-hop, soul and dance music. If you're in with the right crowd, 32 Degrees often hosts private events, vodka tastings and other nights where the exclusivity of the crowd mirrors the price of the Cristal.

i ask you is philadelphia becoming a up-scale area were only the rich and overwhelmingly goodlookig people can live do you need a bmw or a posche to get around do all your clothes have to be labels that are seen on rodeo dr. well i think you need to take a stroll down 2nd st from market to chestnut on a friday or saturday night as it stands you can get all of thee above and you dont have to be that very person you hate. when me and my man go to old city we hit all the clubs, lounges, tap rooms and yes even the restaurants. we fit in like just everyday average people but the best part is we are treated the same and that is why we stay in old city for the way we feel after the fact that we are just two no-body's philadelphia will never be like the other city's people try to talk about being at in the end it is just all the same

I saw T-Model Ford there when it was Upstairs at Nick's. Now it's just another of the many examples of wannabeism that dot Old and Center City. Philadelphia will never be Manhattan. It has too many syllables.
