Oregon is teeming with restaurants featuring organic ingredients, but few establishments have taken the idea of sustainability as far as Hot Lips Pizza. Sure, they all have food that's seasonally fresh, but how many owners have a personal relationship with the tomato grower? And who else can say they've designed a waste exchange system to heat their hot water?
Green goodness of the management aside, let's not forget the creative and delicious food. In addition to innovative, mouthwatering pizza, look for sandwich specials and unique bakery items to tempt your palate. Local microbrews and juices complete the offerings. On that rare sunny day in Portland, eschew the techno interior, claim a patio table and watch life pass by in the Pearl. -- Carla Mortensen

Yummmmmm

When my husband I and I were first dating he took me to the Raliegh Hills Hot Lips. I had never been before. The pizza was great and I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant. From the very first bite I was hooked. I highly recommend the Greek pizza.

Cool neighborhood pizza joint. Atmosphere & decor is perfect for a traditional pizzeria, yet their pizza (*when fresh*) is decent at best. It does the job when you're passing by and craving a slice of pizza. Even though I'm not an environmentalist, I respect the measurements taken by Hot Lips to protect the environment. Check out the global warming documentary, "Too Hot Not To Handle," which they are featured in as well as the city of Portland.

O.K. so others may have better ambiance. What does it matter when you have the best pizza?!
