Owner Ty Dupuis is a god among hotshot pizza-tossers, and he can build a pie in 17 seconds flat (he once proved this feat at the annual Pizza Expo Pizza Olympics in Las Vegas). Located in the heart of the Montavilla district, Flying Pie is the original location of this three-pizzeria operation, where all pizzas are made with whole milk mozzarella, provolone and Romano cheeses and topped with fresh-cut vegetables and some of the choicest meats around. While hanging out, enjoy playing video arcade games like Pac-Man and Spy Hunter, and when the weather cooperates, sit outside on the picnic tables. Don't be shocked, though, if your photo is taken by the management and becomes part of the decor. -- Jason Smith

Not worth the wait!
I had heard all the buzz about how great Flying Pie pizza was, so when it opened it's new location in Milwaukie, I gave it a try. Disapointment to say the least.! Long lines at the counter, wilted brown lettuce at the salad bar and an hour and a half wait for a pizza whose crust tasted like cardboard. I'll save my time and money. Ken's Artisan Pizza is where it's at!
Add CommentWHY WOULD ANYONE GO ELSEWHERE FOR PIZZA?????
We've been eating pizza here since the first week they opened, LONG ago. If you can eat more than one piece (well, maybe two since they began cutting them smaller) you are one big eater!
The toppings are piled high; you don't have to look at two inches of cheese and sauce between each slice of meat as in most pizza places.
If you want more sauce, you just tell them that............same with garlic, spices, etc. It's a place where you will NOT leave the outside edge of crust..............you will savor every bite of that chewy bread...........plus, you can order one of several types of crust. AND, you can now attend a movie right next door and enjoy this pizza and a liquid during the movie.
We have friends who come from Seattle specifically for this pizza. My son's coming from PHX this summer............his first request was to enjoy pizza here and introduce it to his wife and son. KEEP IT UP; WE LOVE YOUR PIZZA.................why eat "pizza" anywhere else?GLAD WE FOUND THIS PLACE

I took my husband and son here because I read a good review and we have never eaten pizza anywhere else since. We live 30 miles outside Portland, but gladly make the trip for this pizza.
TO THE OWNER
I live in Seattle, and your location here was my favorite Pizza place of all time. But in the last year, it has sunk to new levels. PLEASE fix it fast. So many people lately are saying it is scrimping on sauce, leaving the pizza dry and the ingredients are not as plentiful or as fresh. Help...the place down the street is getting your business. WE WANT YOUR AWESOME PIZZA BACK!
Great Pizza, Not Hawthorne
I love this place. Best pizza, very laid-back, neighborhood shop. One thing that's kind of weird, though. This is NOT in the Hawthorne district of Portland. It's about 2 miles east of the Hawthorne district. Some zealous marketer or something listed the restaurant there, I guess to draw people who are drawn to certain neighborhoods.... It's actually in the Montavilla neighborhood, not "hip," just normal, I guess. Either way, you'll like it.
WE WILL ALWAYS GO BACK !!!!!
We came to Oregon from Michigan to visit Mom,Dad and our two sons. On our oldest sons recomondation we went here -- WOW this is the BEST pizza I have ever had. Our hats go off and our glasses raise high to the chef . We will alway go back everytime we go to Oregon.
Try Blind Onion Pizza

As per usual Flying pie is on top, readers might try Blind Onion Pizza if not first its a good second place.
uugh
We ate at the gresham location and both had such a bad case of upset stomach that we both missed work the next day. I can't believe that someone would miss the chance to go get pizza at Tom's Sport's Bar to go here. Tom's is a much better quality pie and we have never been ill after eating it!!
It's OK, Guiseppe's is better
If you are looking for authentic Italian food do not forget Guiseppe's on Stark. The pizza is amazing, with out having to take the following day off!
