Rather than going through the trouble of remodeling, this venerable eatery opened up a new location a few blocks east of the old one. The cheerful ambience, comfortable booths, well-spaced tables, and friendly servers remain the same. So does the menu -- which consists primarily of Midwestern comfort food: steaks, chops, chicken, butterfly shrimp, barbecued whole chicken (not always easy to find in a sit-down restaurant) and (but of course) ribs. Also offered are a variety of fish entrees: orange roughy, haddock, smelt and salmon, with the first two being broiled, breaded or battered. Along with thick slices of bread and butter, all meals come with a side and salad, preventing nasty a la carte surprises when the bill is presented. Soups, sandwiches and salads are available for lighter appetites. Plus, for every two dinners, you get a $5-off coupon for your next visit.

After stopping by the Hickory House in Reynoldsburg after finding out our original restaurant of choice closed down, my boyfriend and I were pleasantly suprised! We recently moved from Tampa, FL and had never heard of this place before. We both had the porthouse which was on sale and the flavor was amazing. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the salad. It had WAY too much dressing and I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend loved it though. Guess it depends on preference. Overall we had a nice experience and will surely be back soon.

Having moved to Florida one of the things we miss from the Columbus area is the Hickory House and its steaks and especially its baby-back ribs.

Hickory House is an awesome restaurant! I went to the Gahanna location with a BIG group for prom and the food was AMAZING and was not too expensive.We got the banquet room and the service was wonderful, They were very friendly and helpful!! I would go there every year for prom if i could stay young forever!!!!

Great Ribs

Now for ribs in the Columbus marketplace these ribs are some of the best. Priced reasonable and service is always good. The Gahanna location has a great staff and the ambiance is very warm feeling.

Too Expensive...Not THAT good

The food was ok...We are from Oklahoma so a good steak here sucks compaired to one at home. THe onion straws where good...but other than that it was WAY to expensive for what you get.

THE BEST RIBS

We have been going to Hickory House for close to 25 years. The food is consistently excellent. Try the chopped sirloin with grilled onions. Excellent. A hamburger this isn't! Cool, crisp and fresh salads. The best ribs around. Very cordial wait staff especially Flo. We will keep coming back as long as we can walk or crawl in the door!!!! C & J

OUTSTANDING BABY BACK RIBS...YOU HAVEN'T HAD THE BEST UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD THE HICKORY HOUSE RIBS...THE BEST!!!!!! GREAT FAMILY ENVIRONMENT...NOT A SUIT AND TIE PLACE...BUT UPSCALE.
