A favorite with locals and nearby Columbus Academy students and graduates, Gahanna Grill is a neighborhood hangout whose modest ambience belies its popularity. The tables have laminated advertisements for local businesses, and the chairs may be unstable to the point that they require placement of a sugar packet or two under the legs. The menu, however, more than makes up for these peccadilloes. Offerings are extensive, including deep-fried mushrooms, a variety of salads, sandwiches and hearty soups, and full-portioned dinners of white fish, walleye, seafood, broiled chicken, prime rib, strip steak, chops and ribs. Gahanna's true claim to fame is the Beanie Burger, topped with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and homemade slaw. Those who can polish off a Double Beanie get their picture on the wall and a free T-shirt. The faint of heart can opt for the more modest Academy version, covered with Swiss cheese, bacon, and onions.

  • Great Burgers!!

Two days ago I went to the Gahanna Grill after a year or so. I was surprised to see what has changed in such a short time! I had to ask why...Since September 2005 it's been under new management. They added this spacious patio outside and added new things to the menu...and it is just awesome! Great food like always and friendly service! I will definitely go back!

  • The place is a dump

Recently went into the Gahanna Grill. The service was slow and unorganized, bathrooms were filthy and falling apart. Tables were sticky from not being cleaned. Booths were ripped and table was being leveled by a piece of cardboard. Gave the food a try, it was ok, however the environment is not one I would consider sanitary for a restaurant. Will never be back.

I had not been to the Gahanna Grill for about 6 months, but I was glad I returned. The burgers were great, the smoke was gone, the service was excellent on a busy night. One of the great burgers in CMH.

  • The "Beanie Burger"

    Review rating : 3out of 5   bpdingman7 - 07/01/2004

I took my family to the Gahanna Grill because my son's nickname is "Beanie" and I knew he could get the Beanie burger which he did no problem. The burgers are good but too over cooked for me and the service was on time. We did come at the right time because the smoke was not bad but I could see it being over bearing during rush hour because the Grill is very small and pub like. It would be a shame if the Grill where to loose business because of the non-smoking policy going into effect because the food is good and the atmosphere has that old time pub feeling.

BASICALLY MS. GURVIS MAY BE RIGHT, BUT IF YOU DON'T PASS OUT FROM THE SMOKE WHEN YOU WALK IN, YOU CERTAINLY
WILL BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR FIRST BITE.AN HONEST REVIEWER WOULD MENTION THAT.

Was not at all impressed. Service was slow, I had to repeat my order, concerned with cleanliness and food was not worth a revisit. Also had a bar without Stollis(A popular vodka) so not even the bar was fully stocked.

I visited the Gahanna Grill for the first time on 4/26/2003. My wife and I were not all that impressed by our first visit. The service was courteous but the food service was very very slow. The waitress did not even bother to ask how we would like to have our Burgers cooked. We tried it but dont plan on returning anytime soon.

I use to be a regular at The Gahanna Grill, but since prices have gone up, food portions have gotten smaller, many items less tasteful, and service usually snobby and slow I have quit eating there or recommending it to anyone. My father refuses to set foot in The Gahanna Grill again after walking into the mens restroom and a customer was using the handwashing sink as the urinal. Disgusting! The one stall women's restroom has always been questionably clean to me even when I thought the food was good and a good deal. I overlooked the uncleanliness the shakey tables and the slow services then because the food was good and reasonable. No more. I haven't eaten there in over 4 months and doubt I will ever again.
