It's called the Thurman Burger, and it's an imposing presence: Weighing in at about three quarters of a pound, it encompasses a huge patty and several slices of ham, mozzarella and American cheese. A secret ingredient also helped garner numerous Best Burger accolades and draws people from all over. If Thurman Cafe's main attraction is a bit too much for you, you can always open up wide for a massive selection of other burgers, including mushroom offerings topped with a choice of pizza sauce, horseradish or just plain 'shrooms. Although the space is small, it's mighty popular. The funky interior, which has housed the family-owned restaurant since 1937, is littered with dollar bills signed by enthusiastic and perhaps alcohol-infused customers. It's so popular that on on a weekend night, you may have to resign yourself to an hourlong wait. Check out the subs, such as the Thurmanadelphia, with its blend of beef, lamb and sauteed onions; or wings and the crackerlike pizza thins. Yes, the portions are large, but they're served up with good-natured cheer, which makes you forgive Thurman Cafe for allowing you such gastromonic -- and criminal -- indulgences.

Too Much
I used to live right behind the Thurman. 6 days a week, I was there.
Ate there maybe 4 of 6 times a week.Tried everything in the course of 2 years. Nothing bad. Most of the time I had leftovers for linch the next day.
Good selection never got tired of the place. If you go there, ask Sharmin about Bill's cherry stem. Can't missAdd Commentgreatest burger ever
I ate the thurman burger back when I went to Otterbien college. It is the greates burger ever.

Delusional
You Thurmanites who voted for the Thurman burger, obviously have not had the Beanie Burger from The Gahanna Grill - I've had the Thurman Burger and can honestly say that it's a slight step up from the Garbage Burger at Max & Erma's - but you aren't even able to compare it to the Beanie Burger, which is 10x's better!!!!!!!!
How did I live here and now know?
I moved to Columbus over 4 years ago, and I did not know about Thurman's until about a month ago, despite the fact that I worked in the same area. I credit my newest coworkers for taking me to Thurman's, and we are going again next Thursday for lunch! I have never seen a burger bigger or as good.
Awesome
Go early in the evening to avoid the lines. Burgers are nassive and toppings are excellent. The fried pickles can't be beat!
Best burger by far
Thurman Cafe is obviously different than any chain restaurant- from the small capacity and long waits to the eccentric local decor- and delightfully original. The burgers are absolutely amazing. Not only are they huge (3/4 lb) and packed full of toppings, but the meat is tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned. While you wait for a seat, you can enjoy free popcorn and a digital jukebox or go ahead and get a drink from the bar. The atmosphere is one of a kind, to compliment the burgers that cannot be matched in taste. Overall, an excellent place to gather with friends or date.
