  • Move over, Mitchell's & Hyde Park...Eddie's in town!!!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   sjcs2008 - 07/10/2008

We've been regulars @ both Mitchell's & Hyde Park for several years but we were blown away when we dined recently @ Eddie Merlot's @ Polaris. They've only been open for 2 months and the buzz around town is this is THE BEST restaurant in town!! Spectacular decor, extremely warm & attentive service and a fresh variety of delicious food are the reasons!!! They even have an in-house butcher!!! Our seats were so comfortable that we were in no hurry to leave. Several tableside creations are available such as flaming bananas foster. Their glass walled wine collection was displayed beautifully and we understand it's the largest in Ohio. The managers and waitstaff were committed to making sure every guest had the very best experience possible. We found it very impressive that the chefs came out to the dining room to make sure guests were enjoying their dinners and enjoyed our pampered and delicious evening!

  • Out of Porterhouse

    Review rating : 1out of 5   Jim72150 - 07/10/2008

Took my family of 5 after OSU graduation. Got the first reservation of the night ( 5:00 PM). Four of us ordered the Porterhouse and were told that they had run out of Porterhouse.

My God, The restaurant is not open during the day, and we had the first reservation of the evening. Being out of any cut of meat at that time is like Kroger being out of milk. Really a bummer.

Bottom line!. Spent about $400 for dinner for five, and was very unhappy, with what our favorite steak restaurant in Columbus.

Result: I will never return to Mitchell's Steakhouse.

FYI, this was the downtown location. I have been to the Crossroads location mant times, and it was great.

  • No Contest/Mitchell's Rules

    Review rating : 5out of 5   BuckeyeRealtor - 05/21/2008

EASILY the best in the city. Hyde Park is overrated, bigtime, and not even close. I've been to Mitchell's literally dozens of times (usually the new Polaris location), and have LOVED it every time. I've taken clients there, family there, you name it. By the way, as of the time of this review, AOL has the website info wrong: it's www.mitchellssteakhouse.com .

  • Over cooked Steak

    Review rating : 1out of 5   markabruzino - 08/09/2007

Went there Easter Sunday with my family for a special event. The place was dead . .however, my steak was significantly overcooked and pricey--didn't want to send it back because of the time it would take to cook another.

Great atmosphere . ..too bad the steak wasn't better

  • $$$

It's OK, but I prefer Hyde Park for a consistently excellent steak experience. Way overpriced, with unbelievably high wine markup.

  • Delicious

    Review rating : 5out of 5   adkison87 - 02/20/2007

The atmosphere is a little loud, but i'm not a big fan of the stiff quite restraunts. Steaks at Michell's are amazing! They are tender and cooked just right. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
