Drive up to the entrance of the Hyde Park Steakhouse and your vehicle will be placed among expensive (and usually foreign) cars by the courteous valet. The restaurant's inside is equally elegant and understated: Rooms are softly lit, with a discreet bar area set aside for smokers. The temptation to linger over appetizers such as oysters Rockefeller or lobster bisque is strong. The salad course comes next, offering hearts of romaine, goat cheese and greens, or Hyde Park Wedge with bacon and candied pecans. The major contenders for the main course are meat and fish. The first category includes basic cuts or gussied-up versions named after sports figures. For instance, spicy Steak Au Nicklaus contains fresh peppercorns and bordelaise sauce atop a New York strip. The seafood is more straightforward: lobster tails, king crab, skewered shrimp and more, along with surf 'n' turf. Side dishes are enough for two.

Took party of 8 last week. Excellent as usual. I live less than a mile from this "tucked away" jewel ...Was always Steinbrenner's fav when he came in to see the Yankees triple A team...Sorry they're gone...Great food...Great people..same bartneders there for 15 years....Couldn't be better....Been there at least 100 times with 98+ being absolutely excellent...

Horrible service
The first time we visited we were a party of 5. Downtown location. Friday night 7-7:30 pm reservation ,August. When our steaks were served the waitress gave my son's girlfriend the wrong steak . When she realized it she picked it up and gave it to the right person at the table. She served everyone else and then mumbled about going back to the kitchen to get the right steak. Basically the girfriend had no food in front of her! I decided that we would all wait for her to get her steak before cutting into ours. That's the only polite thing to do -right?? We waited and waited and waited. The waitress left us and didnt return. Well the mashed potatoes got cold. The manager walked by a few times and realized that were were all just sitting there with our food and not eating so we explained to him what happened. He appologized Meanwhile everyone's steaks were getting cold too. Finally 15 minutes later the missing filet appeared and we started eating. Since the potatoes were now cold I asked for hot ones. The second plate came and they were also lukewarm and I had to ask again. The manager offered us 2 free desserts! What a deal! I was furious and the following Monday I called the corporate office and complained, They gave me a $100 gift certificate. The entire meal should have been compted and it should have been done right there at the restaurant that night by the manager. Recently my 2 sons went back to Hyde Park to celebrate the end of the college year at OSU and to spend the $100 gift certificate. They were both dressed up in hopes of getting better service. (By the way the girlfriend is now a vegetarian and not eating meat) Any way they went on a weeknight when you would business to be slower and get better service. Well again poor service.
I dont remember the details but the manager gave them 2 free desserts. Next time we are going somewhere else in Columbus for good steaks.Hyde Park Grille
Ate at Hyde Park Grille this past Monday pm--loved the wedge of lettuce with bleu cheese dressing/pecans--several people in our group had the salmon, no complaints...steak, no complaints..
Dessert shared the chocolate something--so-so
Creme broulee (spelling??) fabulous
Service was very good--waiter knew his stuff..
All in all a great dining experience.
SVAmazing!
First time there, the wait staff where very nice. Did not treat you like an outsider, and helped with the menu. The filet mignon with a bone? Not a run of the mill production. Would go again.
Great Steak House
This is the premier steakhouse in Columbus. Consistent quality and great service.
Inconsistent Food Quality

I ate with a group of 8. We each had a different steak and we shared a bite or two with each person. I had the 24 ounce bone-in ribeye, which is quite possibly the best steak I've ever eaten. Everyone agreed it was the best steak at our table. The porterhouse was a little tough, the filet mignon was a little dry, the nicklaus steak was awful and I have no idea how they ruined two pork chops...but they did. The bill for 8 people was over $500.00...simply ridiculous. A glass of draft beer was $6.00. Everything is ala carte. My steak was $38.00, hash browns were $6.50, salad is around 7 dollars.
I might go back again, if only for the 24 ounce ribeye. It was perfectly prepared medium rare, seared on the outside, tender, juicy, fantastic flavor...no matter what the commercial says...A-1 was not needed.
The service was very good.
