Dive bars are often romanticized, but this one's an honest to goodness institution. Unchanged from whenever it opened -- no one seems to know the exact date, only that it was sometime in the 1960s -- it draws both students and locals. Floors and a mishmash of wood, plastic and bench-style seating are worn from generations of feet and posteriors. The walls are decorated with decades of photos of participants of a local marathon, in addition to, among other things, a group portrait of guys in their underwear (best not to ask). When a past master isn't live on stage, the classic juke -- still playing 45s -- pumps the bar's trademark jazz and blues into the atmosphere. Also unchanged is the Den's claim to having the cheapest drinks in town. Oh and dont be put off by a gaggle of guys hanging around the entrance -- that's Dick's version of the smoker's patio, since puffing has been banned inside.

    You can't beat the variety of music heard in this wonderful place. The blues is the best and the overall atmosphere is just great.

    When I was good, I was very, very good, and when I was bad...I spent a decade at Dick's! Lots of crazy times, good friends, a decade well spent in the sixties, (even up to the eighties)!

    No longer my home away from home, but still full of folks who never left. I love 'em all, and miss the ones who have left us.

    Unique place, true neighborhood bar, fun and hard to leave!

    1978 marathon leader arrested for jaywalking and fleeing when he strayed into street to avoid ice and snow. Race held soon after blizzard of '78.

    Bar did right thing, and raised bond fund and got him out.

    i was there on october 31,2003.i think its the best bar in columbus.i always meet good people there.paul brown is one of my favorite musicians that plays there.
