The Scene
There's one window that gets plenty of talk at the Dog: It's a one-way mirror in the men's room that overlooks the dance floor, allowing visiting males a gander at the evening's prospects. But the ground-level innovations stop with the pee(p) show. Its first floor possesses all the familiar trappings of a typical dance club. However, this relatively swank Warehouse District spot added two more floors that pull in huge weekend crowds.

The Draw
What may seem like a thinning of the crowd may actually be the pull of the third floor--a smaller, hip zone that includes a lively open rooftop bar. These flashes of inspiration bode well for the future, because the Dog already enjoys the reputation for being one of the better-maintained pop stops on the dance circuit. It also offers a clean blend of safe, '80s-influenced dance cuts, perfect for the young professional crowd.

    Been there once, won't be back. Waste of time and money. So crowded could not even get through crowd let alone dance. Snooty B@#ches, expensive as hell, and I don't think the music was good. Just my opinion though.

    I've been dragged by my friends to this place three times in the last six months and each time one word comes to mind: DUMP. No more though. Restrooms at the bus station are cleaner than this place. The drinks are over-priced, the music dated and tinny at best, and the staff about as friendly as bouncers at a West 25th Street strip club. No one, and I mean no one, smiles and everybody seems to avoid eye contact. They all act like they are doing you a favor by letting you into their little "club." The crowd was uncontrollabled and dressed like slobs. No dress code enforcement, no behavior enforement, and absolutley no class. If you find yourself here. Run very fast out the door.

    two years in a row we went to the halloween contest and each year it gets worse, you should learn from the odean how to do it right. and i can't believe you don't get flaged for fire violations. god forbid if there was ever a fire on the upper floors.

    Not an upscale crowd. Full of people who looked more like they should be attending a costume party than a nightclub. Many dirty old men.

    excuse me but did the kiddies decide to ditch the beach club, fix up their fake id's and show up here? if you like a meat market youll like velvet dog. otherwise join the pretty people ANYWHERE ELSE!
