The Original Pancake House is relatively new to the Beachwood area, but it has fast found its niche as a breakfast hub. Although part of a chain (no, this isn't the original Original Pancake House), this East Side version of OPH does manage to convey a folksy, localized charm. Let's see, what to order? How about pancakes -- dozens of varieties, including (would you believe?) coconut topped with tropical-flavored syrup. Better known are the two specialty dishes, the apple pancake, which is oven-baked and topped with cinnamon glaze, and the "Dutch Baby," a German-style oven-baked pancake served with powdered sugar and lemon wedges. OPH also whips up an assortment of French toast, including bananas foster made with sourdough bread, crepes and waffles. Or try an omelette -- the Mexican variety is loaded with cheese and fresh vegetables and served with salsa.

Rocky River original Pancake House NOT best breakfast in Cleveland

I tried this place 2 times and both times left very disappointed in the quality of the food for the price that was paid. I expect fresh food made to order not food made earlier in the day in large quantities sitting in the back ready to be popped in the microwave. This is buffet food at best. You would do better at McDonalds for value. I won't be back..

bhgadoci - 05/15/2008Bad week? Love Problems? Jerk for a boss? There are no life issues these pancakes can't solve! The bacon is to-die-for, there is REAL CREAM for your coffee, and Mike and Jane are the very best people in town. Love this restaurant - my friends are sick of hearing about it!
Outrageously The Very Best!
arnie112233 - 05/15/2008We've tried all of the other restaurants on the "best of", but clearly, this is the best of the best! The quality is just unbelievable and the service is wonderful. They have great coffee, the restaurant is very clean (check out the bathrooms anytime during the day), the portions are huge and they are very "kid" friendly. Let's see...Dutch Baby, bacon, coffee, home fries...PERFECT! I actually just ate at their new westside location in Fairview Park at the Westgate Mall and didn't notice any difference in the quality or service. My kid loves their chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream. My wife the pumpkin. We love this place!!

gliderpancake - 07/11/2007If you haven't been, you've got to go! The freshest, highest quality food. Kid friendly, people friendly. The bacon is to die for and the pancakes are light/fluffy. I hear they are opening on the west side, which means they will be closer to my house! Hooray! Try the Dutch Baby, baby!
