Patience, my friend: Sift though all the pizza shops, fast-food joints and 24-hour convenience stories that mob the streets near the West Side and you'll find a wunderbar Bavarian gem: Der Braumeister. Catering to folks with iron stomachs and a predilection for German brews, the place certainly stands out in the neighborhood. Inside, though, everything in sync: The traditional beer-house decor fits in perfectly with the menu. A haven for those with hearty appetites, De Braumeister piles on the wiener schnitzel, paprikash and a variety of sausage combos, which are best washed down with a stout lager. Those with more homebound tates might find a burger or steak to their liking. All will no doubt find a brew among the 100 or so imported beers and German wines. Der Braumeister will serve food as long as people are coming to eat it, but here's a tip: Get there early in case it's a light night; they'll shut the grill off.

Authentic German
Several Imported Beers on Tap from the "Old Country". Over 100 more in bottles. All served in their proper glass. This place knows how to respect beer. Traditional German meals and American fare prepared by European cooks. Excellent athmosphere in the Dining Rooms and an old style wood bar that's Wunderbar. Sidewalk dining when warm. Great place to try something different without compromising quality. Check out their attached German Delicatessen.

amazing
the best place in cleveland. service is amazing food is amazing and the owners are friendly and interested in you opinion
AMAZING!!!
As a native Clevelander, but now residing in NYC, I give Der Braumeister two thumbs up! The food is beyond and up to New York standards with German favorites likes Weiner Schnitzel baked with a bubbling light breading (not deep fried), and Weiss Wurst that reminds me of Berlin, or the perfect cherry strudel just like oma used to make- it reminds me of home! Not to mention over 100 imported beers. I was also lucky enough to have Linda, one of the owners wait on me at the bar that soon treated me like family. The prices are a bit more than your average Cleveland dive bar, but the proportions are large so come prepared to eat and stuff yourself like a true Bavarian. I love this place and will call it my home away from home when I come to visit my home...Cleveland and the Brau rocks!
disappointing

The food was entirely mediocre and relatively overpriced. The salad was minimal and not memorable, the weiner schnitzel was bland, and the jager schnitzel was also not great. The meat was chewy and rather tasteless. The beer was good, at least.
Dinner for 2 with 1 beer was $50 after tip. This is too much to pay for such disappointing food. If German style schnitzel and sausage is what you're after, try Sterle's Slovenian country house on E. 55th.
