coming from the southside of chicago i would drive here for the weekend just to try these ribs again. Nothing comes close to these in chicago!!!!

Montgomery Inn Way Overrated

I have eaten at all of the barbeque entries which were nominated for the "best of" award, Walt's is by far the best when it comes to real authentic barbeque. The baby back ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken are all slow smoked slowly with the perfect blend of woods. The ribs are "fall off the bone" tender. Walt's also serves the sauces tableside so that you can use to your own liking. Montgomery Inn, while a city icon and a favorite among the East siders is, in my opinion, more of a "general" type of restaurant serving several dishes which are considered barbeque fare, but are grossly lacking in the authentic qualities which define real, down to Earth barbeque. The smoked barbeque taste is non-existant in the food from the Montgomery Inn. Folks, don't be swayed by the name, Walt's is the REAL place for REAL, slow cooked smoked barbeque in Cincinnati.

There is good and some in Cincinnati are certainly good. Then there is the better barbecue joints; some with a great big name and lots of money. And yes there is a "best" in Cincinnati by the way of Walt's Barbecue. It is truly the best barbecue, the nicest people and a casual atmosphere that ranks it #1 in my book. My husband and I eat there at least twice a week. I am happy that the food is wonderful and I can order a guilt free and healthy meal. Thanks Walt!!

If Rachel Ray ever comes to Cincinnati and skips Walt's for Montgomery Inn, she is making a HUGE mistake. If possible, gotta go on Tuesday night. All you can eat ribs, for less than the cost of a slab at most wanna be rib places.

It ain't Barbecue if It ain't Walts. I don't even bother buying regular barbecue sauce from the stores. I buy it directly from Walts by the CASE! I've watched this place grow from a little hole in the wall to the huge barn it is now and the people are still wonderful. The owner is always present and pleasant. The service is fantastic. The prices are reasonable. I can't say enough about this establishment. I've tried them all and nothing compares to this pig. Keep 'em smokin Walt!
