Although "elegant" is rarely a word used to describe chain restaurants, P.F. Chang's hits the bull's-eye. Gracious, inviting and innovative, it offers a mysteriously haunting and glamorous dining setting, accented by pieces from the Ming and T'ang dynasties. The brainchild of Paul Fleming and executed by cuisine expert Philip Chang, P.F. Chang's first opened its doors in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1993. Fleming sought elegance and innovation, authenticity and exploration -- none of it easy in a chain restaurant. But he succeeded. Chang's fiery stir-fried spicy chicken is a new take on General Tso's, and VIP Cantonese chicken mimics Peking duck preparation. Honey shrimp are battered and crispy, and stir-fried Cantonese scallops or shrimp are seasoned with garlic and yellow chives. Mongolian beef is quickly cooked with scallions and garlic, and wines complement your entree choices. Hand-painted murals and low lighting complete the mood. In some areas of the country, Fleming has instituted Pei Wei Asian Diner, the quick and more casual eating experience. But true fans will remain loyal to P.F. Chang's original vision.

I heard all these rave reviews about PF Changs so decided to try it out myself, very dissapointed. It had I thought a limited menu & the food was INCREIDABLY salty! I had to go home & drink a gallon of water. Wont be returning unless someone gives me a free gift card, Id rather go to my little whole in the wall Johnny Chans on field ertol!

While chains are the devils diners, PF Changs excels where the others fail. Atmosphere is very delightful and the food is surprisingly good. Not really authentic, but worth a visit every month or two. Lack of Asian employees is curious?

  • NOT THAT GREAT

Basically P.F. Chang's has the same dishes that you'd find at a Chinese buffet, except this isn't a buffet and you receive a small portion of dish for overpriced. And it tastes the same as a chinese buffet if not worse....I'd rather go to a Chinese buffet where i get my money worth and different choices and however much i want

Performs well always for a chain with polite and informed service. The lettuce wraps are outstanding.

i must admit, i'm picky when it comes to food..i love well prepared asian food..chang's is a pretty place and the service has been good on two occasions, BUT
i have to say the choices i made were mediocre at best and not worth the price..there are many other places that offer really good asian fare, e.g. pacific moon, yum yum,..

  • Pretty Good

I have been here on many many occasions and have never had any complaints. Execellent food..good service..but maybe it was a little noisy.

They have great food. It's not really authentic chinese, but american-chinese, so it will suit anyones taste buds. They have a great variety of dishes and the lettuce wraps looked delicious, but haven't tried them yet. Good food at a fair price. Don't dress down, it's a fun place to go for a special occasion.
