Cincinnati's hip Northside neighborhood is known for its diversity and places that cater to all crowds -- from its trendy restaurants, alternative bookstores, gay/lesbian clubs, top-notch music stores, and, of course, neighborhood bars. Northside Tavern celebrates the eclectic mix that makes up its neighborhood in a comfortable, casual way. Housed in a historic building with high ceilings, exposed brick walls and an old-fashioned bar, the Tavern feels well-loved and familiar. During the week, folks belly up to the bar to enjoy hard-to-find imported drafts like Bluebird Bitter or Bell's Ale while listening to an acoustic guitarist or jazz group. Weekends pack in the crowd for some of the city's best-known or up-and-coming bands, and they play everything from bluegrass to alt-rock to hard-core punk. The crowd is slightly older than the Main Street college crowd, and a bit more sophisticated in beer and music tastes, which makes things interesting.
