This hometown gem is a world-famous confectionary, best loved for its delicious cream-filled chocolates and handmade ice cream that's chock-full of luscious ingredients. The historic Oakley location, with its Tiffany-style lamps and imported marble, is a true old-fashioned ice-cream parlor. Located in charming Oakley Square, it is a convenient stop for a hand-dipped cone on a leisurely summer evening stroll. Fine chocolates tempt visitors through glass display cases year-round, but it's the seasonal Opera Cream chocolates for which Aglamesis is famous. Available online, the chocolates have earned a national reputation among fellow confectionaries as some of the finest cream-filled chocolates to ever touch a tongue. -- Annie McManis

Aglamesis...First & Foremost!
When I was in my teens we lived in Oakley, 3 blocks from Aglamesis'. I would stop there almost everyday after school with my friends for the provincial "Coke". Only in my case it was a Phosphate... Cherry or Vanilla. If you've been eating Aglamesis' ice cream for all these years, you need to try a Phosphate the next time you visit. Ice Cream, Sodas, Cones and Phosphates make up the Great Tastes... And when you walk thru their front door, don't forget to breathe deeply. The aroma is one you'll never forget!!
It is now 53 years later and every now and then I still get the "urge" to go to Aglamesis'... And it's still the same as it was in the 50s...

I have been going to Aglamesis for years. I have at one point or another tried just about everything they have to offer and I have never been disappointed. Their ice cream is delicious and reasonably priced ($2.95 for a sundae), you can't beat it. I love the atmosphere, like an Ice cream parlor out of the 1950's. I find it hard to believe that anyone who has been to Aglamesis & tried it isn't a fan!! If ice cream isn't your thing... try the "Sincere Soda" .... it is FABULOUS.
The BEST!
The reviewer that said Aglamesis is "mediocre" probably thinks UDF ice cream is just Heavenly. No, this is the BEST ice cream in the City and one of the finest in the Country. While I will give Greaters the nod for having SMOOTH ice cream, Aglamesis definately gets the nod for taste. Do this comparison...put the following flavors side by side and compare....egg nog, pumpkin, peppermint stick, and even vanilla. YOU decide. Aglamesis butter pecan is about the best anywhere. I might be fair and give Graeters credit where credit is due...their chip flavors are hard to beat. Also, Aglamesis has great chocolates and the BEST vanilla carmels....and no one beats their annual Easter Egg collection.
So So

The ice cream is mediocre at best. The portions are way too small for the extremely high prices that are charged. The chocolate, however, is excellent. Because of the ice cream (only Graeter's is worse), I have to give it 2 stars and that's a stretch.
Best in the City

don't believe the hype about that other ice cream place in cincinnati, Aglamesis is by far the best. their hot fudge sauce is one of the best I've ever had. the location in oakley is very historic and cool. check it out, you won't be disappointed.
