For years in Akron it's been an argument for which there was really no argument: The best pizza in the Rubber City -- or anywhere else in the minds of many -- can be found at Luigi's. An old-style Italian restaurant, Luigi's managed to get even more popular after the demolition of a nearby bridge forced it to move to an off-the-beaten-path location. Luigi's has two constants: great food and lines stretching out the door. No reservations are available, so leave plenty of time because on many, if not most, nights, you will wait to get in. Once inside, the fare is simple but famously sumptuous: strictly Italian food with few gimmicks. Best-sellers include pizza and Italian tossed salad, which are both topped with a mountain of mozzarella. For those looking to try something else, there are 10 spaghetti dishes, a handful of Italian sandwiches and such specialties as lasagna, baked ravioli Florentine and homemade meatball-and-Italian-sausage casserole. Straddling the border of downtown and North Hill, Luigi's is arguably Akron's favorite spot for late-night munchies.

Luigis pizza is good but not special........ One large is more like a med. size and if you get three toppings it will cost you almost $20.00........ now that they were voted #1 I'll bet the price per pizza goes up by $4.00.

Luigi's pizza is certainly the best. My friends who grew up on Mama Santo's hands down pick Luigi's following my introduction of it to them. To Mr. 2-first-names - perhaps YOUR taste buds need some sharpening!

Do the people in Akron have no taste buds? the food is tasteless and the place is a dump, has not been updated since it opened 60 years ago. Very over priced for the garbage that you get. Get real!!!!!!

It's a disgusting disgrace! I moved here from NYC a few months ago and this shop was on everyone's lips. So naturally I went (having not found a decent pizza shop in Ohio yet). I mean...it was so bad, I gave it back to them. Burnt crust, no sauce, skimping on the toppings, and for the size and price I wasn't having it. Either Luigi needs a pizza lesson badly or Ohio needs to up their standards. Sorry guys....

I've eaten Pizza all over the country, and both my family and I agree that there is no better pie than Luigi's! Be sure to order FRESH GARLIC on your pie, it is amazing. I've been a customer for over twenty-five years and will be forever.
