There is a whiff of broad comedy to the proceedings at this classic-style Rockville Centre Italian. The owner greets favored customers with a slight bow and a handshake. At tableside, tuxedoed waiters flip romaine, croutons and dressing into their signature Caesar salad. The garlic bread is so pungent and damp with butter that it is difficult not to make a meal of it alone. For all that, dinner at Dario's does not devolve into high camp and rarely do pie fights break out. Instead, it's simply an excellent, caring Northern Italian that puts a premium on customer satisfaction through classic cuisine and attentive but never fawning service. It's a good place to reacquaint yourself with dishes you may have soured on owing to careless preparations elsewhere. Try appetizers of baked clams topped with breadcrumbs or an order of stuffed mushrooms. The classic piccatas, marsalas, pizzaiolas and parmigianas go above and beyond the call of ordinary. But, as regulars know, the specials are the thing, whether of pasta, fish or veal chops. The wine list is expensive, but there are many high-quality Italians available for well under $30.

Very Special
We are regulars. Dario's is the first place we think of on special occasions and sometimes at the last minute we check to see if there is a table just as a treat. The Veal Dario is fantastic, eggplant rollatini is a great appetizer, it is all great. The potato side dish with some special ingredients, is yummy. First and last is the fantastic service and being made to feel very special! The prices are high, justifiably. You do need to plan in advance, because there might not be a table available at the last minute. In this economy, that says it all!

First of all, for all that feel this is not the best, you don't know what the best is. Our first time there we went we had no reservations and were never embarrassed by an announcement to the restaurant and weren't rushed in or out. We waited for a seat and were seated by Paul himself with an apology for the wait. Our appetizers were incredible, roasted red pepper, tomato and fresh mozzarella with fresh basil and stuffed mushroom, all extraordinary. It made us eager for the main course. The bread and brushetta they serve is also amazing, making the trip worth it just for that alone. We ordered, like many suggested my husband got the veal which he thought was unbelievable, perfectly cooked and I ordered the gnocchi bolognese, which was to die for, just like Nonna used to make. The prices for fine dinning are the same in each high class restaurant but the food will never measure up. We have gone back at least twice a month ever since. The staff knows are names and we are greeted by Paul with a hug and handshake every time. How you can pass up an opportunity to eat here is beyond me.
wonderful
I am not one to write a lot so here it is... The food is great, the service is great and the personal service form Paul is great. If you pass up a chance to eat here you missed out on a great night.
Have You All Been Paid By The Owner?
Decided to try this place for my birthday after reading all of the rave reviews posted. Sorry to say but we were very disappointed. We are Italian -American "foodies" who know quality ingredients and how to prepare them. The food here is at best, medicore. I had the lobster raviloli starter which were straight out of a box (Fairway? Pastosa?). My companion's veal was tough and dry and the marinara on his side of pasta tasted like it came from a jar. The sauces atop both entrees had an overwhelming flavor of boullion cubes and the cheese was deli munster instead of the imported fontina or mozzarella it should have been. They didn't even bother to trim off the orange dye. The mashed potato cabbage mush that came as the side dish was awful. These prices demand higher quality and fresh ingredients with more innovation. DaVinci's in Island Park has better food at a lower cost. As far as I'm concerned, Dario's is both over rated & over priced.

Time limitation...thumbs down.
I am not enthused with the time limitations but the menu is lovely.
EXCELLENT FUN
This is the best resutrant in town in the Resturant capital of Long Island. Owenr is really friendly and greets you by name with a hug if you come often. Great atmosphere.
Derek VarsalonaBoooooo Dodici- Darios is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
First of all if you are Italian and you think Dodici is great Italian food you are sadley mistaken. Darios is AMAZING!! The service is OUTSTANDING!! Never ever does it dissapoint. My boyfriend and I eat at Darios whenever we can. Special occasions etc.... We love the food and atmosphere. No where else on Long Island do you feel more welcome and eat wonderful food. Since going there for the first time about a year ago I would never go back to Dodici!! Best Italian Food!!
Rivalling the best in metro NY

Been a Dario favorite when they were in W. Hempstead. Great northern Italian food, attentive service. Nothing equals their house special - veal chop Dario. Ask Dario's son Paul, who runs the front of the house, for reasonable wine recommendations and you will not be disappointed, nor overpriced.
