My update from 05/28/2008
To many people read reviews and went, wrecked it?
They got it together again!
Where to go for a business dinner? Oh, I know! Being the Sex in the City fan that I am, a must try is certainly Tao. Upon arriving, my co-worker and I sat in the bar area while waiting for our guest. The drinks were fabulous. One question though. Why must martini's be made all the way to the very top of the glass? Spillage is inevitable. I want to enjoy my drink, not wear it (hint hint to all you bartenders out there).
Once our guest arrived, we were brought to our table upstairs. The view was wonderful. The giant buddha, along with the ability to people watch on the lower level crowd made this a perfect table.
The food was fantastic, albeit overpriced, but definitely fantastic. I did not try the sushi, but heard it was delicious. We all ordered desert as well, to see what type of creations would be brought. My co-worker ordered the gigantasized fortune cookie. It was fabulous! Even the fortunes come in super size. I ordered the banana pudding. It was deeeeeelicious. Wow.
Big fan of this restaurant, though it's definitely a go once in a while kind of place due to the price tag. A must try for splurging!Add CommentGREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!!

Our night started in style....We walked in at 10:30 pm on a Friday night and Mario Lopez and Jeramy Pivens were walking out. We got seated about 25 min after we arrived. The food and drinks were awesome!!! We had Lobster,Steak, and Peking Duck sooooo Good!!! The setting couldn't have been better. Great Music and beautiful people. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Great and sexy place!
Tao is my favorite place for drinks, dinner and meet people from all over the world! I feel like one of the girls fron SATC when I go there.
It is worth every penny!Terrible, arrogant, service

Made reservations three days in advance for 10:15PM.
Arrived at 9:45 and was still waiting at 10:45.
This happens in busy restaurants but the lady who claimed to be the Maitre'd was the most arrogant, unpleasant and confrontational person I have encountered in a service oriented business.
After much argument, we decided a dinner is not worth the aggrevation.attitude
food and decor are great but whats with the attitude. This is for the hostess "dont hate me cause u hate your job"
Don't bother!

Tao USED to be my favorite restaurant and I used to recommend it to everyone but I will NEVER step foot in there ever again in my life. Yesterday 10 of us went there for my birthday. I had made reservations 1 MONTH in advance and even called to confirm them the day before. Our reservations were supposed to be for 9:15 but we waited until almost 11:00 and were still never seated. Meanwhile, I saw a few people walk in off the street, slip the host some money, and they were seated right away. I asked the host numerous times what was going on and was told (in a very snotty and nasty way) that they were running behind schedule and that I just had to wait. My guests were all hungry and annoyed and I was never so embarassed. I had friends and some family travel from out of town and even out of state to join me for dinner to celebrate my birthday and this is what happens. The host and hostesses were rude, unprofessional and had attitude problems. When we finally told them that we were just going to leave, the host said "Oh well" and shrugged his shoulders as if he couldn't care less. The place was so packed it was insane. We ended up leaving and having to pay 30 bucks for the parking garage for nothing, but we went someplace else and had a great time (at Rue 57). I do not recommend this place at all because the customer service sucks and they do not care about how they treat their customers! Also, they need to learn what the purpose of a reservation is!
excellent food, atmosphere
overall, romantic, food was sooo good worth the$$$. however cocktail wait was very annoying, and slow.
Not vegetarian friendly...

Everything was great, but....for asian food, it was not vegetarian friendly at all. All noodle dishes had oyster sauce that could not be removed, obviously the dishes are not made to order. There are a few appetizer choices, but only 1 entree; Budah Vegetables - this was dissapointing. It was a crock of decent vegetables, but nothing Budah would order a second time.
