Snagging a table at Il Mulino -- one of the best and most expensive classic Italian restaurants in the city -- is more difficult than earning respect from the Corleones. You might just find a Corleone-type or two lurking in the dark, steam-clam shadows of this old-school, belly-up, belt-down trattoria. Extremely popular with diners who know a fine lamb chop when they eat one, this unpretentious old-world wonder exists in its own magical universe. Garlic is administered at whim, portions are sized so big you beg "basta!", and the inevitable waits (even celebs and bigwigs have trouble prying dinner tables away from the regulars) are so familiar, they're part of the rustic decorum. Porcini mushroom ravioli, fresh mozzarella, fine Chianti, great grappa, tuxedoed waiters -- everything here is so indulgently worth it you won't even notice the transfer of weight from wallet to stomach. With just one seating for both lunch and dinner, reservations are required (if you can get them). -- Yon Motskin

Il Mulino, My Favorite Italian Restaurant
I cannot say enough about the food. It is absolutely delicious! From the moment I enter the restaurant and am served the bread basket and Italian appetizers to the last sip of Grappa I am in Heaven with this feast of old world Italian food. The waiters and host, Tony, add to the splendor as they are so detailed and attentive. I've been eating there for six years now and still can't get enough.

Can't get in NYC...Go to Vegas
Il Mulino in Cesar's Palace served probably the best meal I have ever had. From the bread to the dessert every single item was magnificent. I had a grilled shrimp appetizer which I expected would be well, grilled shrimp. What I received was the most succulent, flavorful shrimp I have ever eaten. The lobster risotto and veal chops were so wonderful, my wife even tried them and she doesn't eat lobster or veal chops. I walked out about 75 pounds heavier, but it was worth every penny!
Excellent Dining Experience
Il Mulino came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and the service was just wonderful. Large variety of menu selections. I highly recommend this dining experience.
Baton Rouge, LaMy New York favorite!
Il Mulino is, above all else, memorable. From the carpaccio (don't miss it), to the dessert, you won't be disappointed. Intimate and fun.
Lake Placid to New york City
I used to work in the city, moved to LP. When I go back I can't wait to get to Mulino. The food is the best and so are the people who work there. Rick Thomas
Save your money
This place always has tables available for lunch because lunch will run you $100 per person - no need for a reservation here. The selection of wine by the glass is poor and the least expensive red wine on the list is $75 a bottle. The portions are large and the service is excellent , but thats about as good as it gets. For the money you could eat at any combination of of the following Italians: Roberto's and Enzo's in the Bronx or Trattoria L'Incontro and Piccola Venezia in Queens. The list of Manhattan Italians is to large to name any single restaurant, but I'm sure your money and experience will be better in those also.
