The Scene The Syracuse-based barbecue phenomenon plunked a sprawling roadhouse with all the familiar back-road accoutrements into an abandoned meat factory. Unfinished wood-beamed ceiling, burlap bag curtains, scattered country bric-a-brac, and an enthusiastic greeting feel worlds away from the city. The roll call of devotees includes area families, couples on casual dates and groups of Columbia students. The Food Though fried green tomatoes and punchy boiled shrimp start things off right, the smell of smoking meats quickly adjusts the focus. The smokey-sweet pork ribs gently release from the bone and the Texas brisket, a touch dry, gets a lift from a topping of tangy cured jalape?os and a dash of hot sauce. It's even safe to venture from red meat with the truly moist and tender chicken, brined then smoked for deep flavor. With the exception of the cakey corn bread, sides keep pace, with tangy Creole potato salad and sweetened baked beans the standouts.

ONENYBROTHER - 07/02/2008You eat at Blue Smoke because you think it's cool. You eat at Dinosaur BBq because you like a good food. The place is dynamite. I go there at least once a month. Make reservations it can get pretty packed

Jlisamermaid - 06/27/2008I absolutely recommend The Dinasaur to people of all kind and ages.
My daughters and I have been eating there since the original in Syracuse over 10 years now. We loved ALL their barbeque, ribs and brisket especially, then and now. All the sides are delicious and their daily specials(cuban food especially), as kids they liked eating there and still now that they are in their twenties. Music after hours and live performances add that special something that no other restaurant has been able to succefully combine to match with their food and service which I think gives it that quality that sooooo many love to eat there and then stay for entertainment. I have been going to the Dinosaur BBQ for 8 years now. And I LOVE IT!
The Restaurant here in Rochester NY serves the finest BBQ in all of upstate NY. I hope to get to the one in NYC some day! I'm sure it's far better than anything else in that area.... They even Catered Our Wedding
back in 2001. Best part of the whole Wedding! LOLBest I've Found
AY AY TM 6 - 06/11/2008I've eat at the Rochester & Syracuse locations many times. Since moving to the South I have yet to taste anything as good. The atmosphere is great. Lots of fun and always friendly. I've always said, when I die I want to go to the Dinosaur. Their cook book is the Bible on BBQ in my humble opinion. Tried many of their ideas and friends tell me my ribs are the best they've ever had. Thanks to the authors for making it true to the quality they serve at their place.
