My husband and I were in Vegas celebrating our anniversary and decided on dinner Saturday night at TAO. We had show plans at 10pm so we made our reservation for 7:15pm (we were staying at the Venetian and the hotel concierge made our reservation for us). We arrived promptly at 7:15 and were given a pager and told that our table wasn't ready. After TWENTY FIVE minutes, we were finally seated. No one apologized for our wait or tried to do anything to accommodate us for it. The sushi, I would say, was just OK, we've definitely had better. Our waiter was OK....nothing to write home about. When the check came, my husband asked to speak with the manager. A girl that was about 25 came over and my husband explained our late seating and how we were now going to be late for our 10pm show (it was 9:15pm and we had to get to the other end of the strip!). The manager said she was sorry but their reservations run late sometimes and offered us free dessert....HELLO! We just said that we had to go or we would be late for our show. In the end they comped the $8 Edamame, woo hoo. Had this experience happend in our home city, the appetizer/dessert would have been taken care of before we even sat down. For what is supposedly a top rated restaurant, we were supremely disappointed!!!!

You can pretty much your whole day there starting with Tao Beach, Tao Asian Bistro and then the Nightclub. As others mentioned, it can get pretty crowded but that's expected when you go to one of Las Vegas' popular nightclubs. My friends and I had the best times at TAO by just planning ahead. Tip - do some research and see how you can get on the guest list.

If you want to eat at TAO, making a reservation is highly recommended. Our waiter was very helpful and even explained the whole menu for us. I took up on his advice and ordered the chilean sea bass - it was incredible! I had the dinner there for my birthday and they brought out this amazing giant fortune cookie. Not your typical fortune cookie that you get at Panda Express because this was freshly baked and had chocolate mousse inside.

To sum it all up, there is a reason why Tao always has long lines to go inside. They have good food, great atmosphere and awesome food.

very over rated venue. door guys were rude, club felt uncomfortable. there was a very 'ghetto' crowd.. i felt like i was in the projects. bartender made generous drinks but they were still way overpriced. it was so dark in there it hid every ugly girl... i couldnt find one attractive girl in the 2 hours i was there.

  • Today's young Asian people's attitudes

    Review rating : 1out of 5   SHanna1560 - 07/02/2008

What is wrong with today's young Asian people's attitude it's like if it's bad food so what and if the service is bad it's like so what? Well if I am going to spend money on Asian food it had damn well be good. If it isn't I am not paying for it if there's attitude they can shove it.

  • Blondetourage night at the Tao

    Review rating : 5out of 5   theblondetourage - 02/26/2008

The Blondetourage jetted from the OC into Vegas on Thursday night for the first www.Blondetourage.com night at the world famous Tao nightclub located canal side in the super-sized, over the tip-top Venetian resort complex.

We were greeted and treated like VIB's (that's right Very Important
Blondes) by gracious Vegas nightlife guru Mike Snedegar, who arrangedfor us to enjoy a sumptuous Pan-Pacific meal at the Tao restaurantunder the serene stare of the 20 ft. tall Buddah. Our friendly waitstaff brought dish after dish of delish entrees, including lusciouslobster wontons, the Tao's signature Chilean sea bass and a flame-throwing dessert sampler platter.

The Tao www.Blondetourage.com night was hosted by OC's own Heather Renee Smith, Playboy February 2007 Playmate. We met Heather and her own Blondetourage tableside and helped celebrate her 21st birthday with a cute t-shirt and shorts with our signature logo across the derriere. Maybe we'll get to see the lovely Heather in a future photo wearing her Blondetourage.com ensemble! We think Hef would approve.

Mike then swept us past the stylish doormen sporting blonde wigs, beyond the velvet ropes and upstairs into the Tao Nightclub, the fabulous and massive Asian-themed nightlife lounge.

Beyond the velvet ropes outside and now beyond the velvet ropes
inside, the Blondetourage was again given the "VIB" treatment with table service provided by the lovely and top-notch Tao staff.

It was a blondelicious night and the Blondetourage want to send a great big bodacious blonde Thanx! to our favorite nightlife
impresario Mike Snedegar...you're the best! Now it's back from Viva Las Vegas to Viva OC and the Blondetourage World HQ where we will be busy as usual designing, dancing and Celebrating the Blonde in Us All!

    Review rating : 3out of 5   maria7900 - 09/11/2007

Made reservations to celebrate my anniversary and was called 3 times to confirm. Very unprofessional, 1 call is enough. Our meal was rushed by the waitress who barely cared that we were there. Food was good, very over-rated. I should have chosen a place that caters to special ocassions and people that want to spend money where they are appreciated. I live here in NV, but grew up in New York. New Yorkers find places that are special and sophisticated just by word of mouth. Treat your new locals like they are equally as in important as your tourists.

  • We Were Treated Like Stars!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   evita462 - 08/10/2007

Great Food in the dining room. Yes, it is crowded and you should plan on waiting. After all, this isn't McDonalds with a drive through window. "Good things come to those who wait!" We had great drinks and great company and it was worth every minute of the wait! The Kobe beef is fantastic. Our waiter and host made us feel like we were the only customers they had.
We also went to Tao Beach, Awesome and danced at Tao on a different night. Yes, crowded. Very hard to move around. We still had fun. I guess you get what you put into it.

  • Worst Service I have EVER had

    Review rating : 1out of 5   kmartin79 - 06/15/2007

The food was great, but the service was the worst that I have EVER experienced in my entire life. The wait staff was rushing us through our meal so much that they were literally clearing our plates as we were still chewing our food. We had not finish eating and our plates were gone. I would absolutely never eat here again and I strongly advise others to skip it. I liked the food, but not good enough to make up for the horrific service.

It was my 21st birthday. The resturant is AMAZING. Service is #1 and the SEABASS! You must try to the SEABASS. DJ VICE definitely sets the mood to have a fabulous time. I would drop all my plans to party where he DJ's, his musical touch is like a magic that is bestowed all throughout his audience.
